Learning With Deborah Helping adults feel confident speaking English in daily life, work, and travel. 🌍💬

I help adults—especially Portuguese and Spanish speakers—feel more confident communicating in English at work, home, and while traveling. In my classes, students:
• Practice real conversations for daily life and work
• Improve pronunciation, listening, and fluency step by step
• Build reading comprehension through stories and discussion
• Learn grammar in simple, practical ways
• Gain confidence using English in real situations

I also lead an English Reading Club for Brazilians, where students read comic books and short stories together to improve comprehension and pronunciation in a relaxed, supportive group setting.

Once we learn a new word we can find it anywhere! Because we are looking for it. Learning a new word and how it's used helps us to unlock a new way of thinking and new phrases. It helps us to communicate better.

🎵 I renamed my Karaoke class.

It's now English Through Music — because I realised the name was scaring people away. A lot of you thought you'd have to sing. You don't.
You just listen, talk, and learn real English through real songs.
Everything else stays the same — once a month, 3 songs, $5, no pressure.
New name. Same class. Still no singing required.
Next class coming soon.

Agora se chama English Through Music — porque percebi que o nome estava afastando as pessoas. Muitas de vocês pensavam que precisariam cantar. Vocês não precisam.
Você só escuta, conversa e aprende inglês de verdade através de músicas de verdade.

You know the song… but do you understand what they’re really saying?

In English, songs aren’t just about music. They’re about how people express their feelings, describe the weather, and tell stories.

✨ “Here comes the sun, and I say it's all right.”
✨ “I'll be there on the double”
✨ “I used to think maybe you loved me, now baby I'm sure”

These are phrases we hear in movies and music, and some phrases we use every day.

This is exactly what we do in my English karaoke class.
We slow things down, understand the meaning, and connect it to real life.

If you’ve ever listened to a song and thought, "I think I get it, but wait, what does this mean?", then this is for you.

What happens in my English Karaoke class? We learn English that people actually use!

We use songs to slow things down and look at:
🎵 what the lyrics actually mean
🎵 phrases native speakers would really say
🎵 which expressions sound dramatic or poetic
🎵 pronunciation, patterns, and real-life communication

Every month, we study 3 songs around the same theme and talk about the language together.

Last class, we even asked:
“Would you actually say this?”

Because sometimes songs teach you things textbooks don’t.

Once a month. $5. Online.
No singing required. Just curiosity.

You know the song… but do you understand what they’re really saying?

In English, songs aren’t just about music — they’re about how people express love, boundaries, and real-life emotions.

✨ “Everything means nothing if I ain’t got you.”
✨ “Little did I know that you were Romeo…”
✨ “Since I’m not your everything, how about I’ll be nothing?”

These are the kinds of phrases people actually use — just in different ways.

This is exactly what we do in my English karaoke class.

When learning a language, we get thrown into situations we would never imagine. But those same things help us to see just how far we've come. Don't be embarrassed or scared, it's all part of learning a language. You can do it!

Ao aprender um idioma, nos deparamos com situações que jamais imaginaríamos. Mas essas mesmas situações nos ajudam a perceber o quanto já progredimos. Não tenha vergonha nem medo, tudo isso faz parte do aprendizado. Você consegue!
