Dr. Claudia May received her second book award for her children's book When I Fly With Papa.
On May 4, 2019, When I Fly With Papa won a gold medal in the 2019 Midwest Book Awards Religion/Philosophy/Spirituality category. It was the only children's book to receive a finalist nomination in that category. You can order her book from this website: claudiamay.org.uk

Hello alumni and friends of the department--if you are unable to attend the May 9 Farewell Gathering but would like to send a short (1-2 minutes or even less) reflection/remembrance/tribute video, please send it to me, Suzi Nelson, at [email protected] by one week from today, Friday, May 3. On Thursday, May 9 from 4-6 pm in the Eastlund Room, join us for a farewell commemoration to the Anthropology (as of 2014) and Sociology (at the end of the 2019 spring semester) majors. Sociology, Sociocultural Studies, and Anthropology alumni will receive the attached letter from the Alumni office next week. Reconciliation Studies will continue as a major, minor, and program, under the department of World Languages and Cultures.. A Sociology minor will continue in the department of Political Science. All alumni and friends of the department formerly known as Anthropology, Sociology, and Reconciliation Studies are welcome. We will celebrate our legacy and enjoy stories and refreshments.
