Top Teen America and World Students Wanted: Congressional Leadership Academy Announces 2012 Admittance
Beginning December 1, 2011, the National Youth Leadership Camp and Academy is searching for the top teen America and World students for the upcoming 2012 class. During this Washington, DC residency week long seminar and course, America’s and the World’s brightest and most talented student leaders gather to study, network, excel and develop their skills for careers and futures in law, public policy, government and public service. Each day of the week long seminar is dedicated to national and international policy topics including: Foreign Relations, Legislative Branch Breakout, The Administration and the Judiciary Branch. During the week, the students are grouped in teams to work on policy issues of their concern with legislation being a solution at the completion of the weekly session, students complete a legislative proposal that is sent and presented to appropriate federal Congressman and US Senators.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled for our 2012 class of students to have an opportunity to work directly on legislation that matters to youth, our nation and world while working hand-in-hand with their colleagues and peers making a difference and learning as a teenager what many citizens never have the opportunity to learn or do,” states Jayne J. Jones, JD, Chief Academic Officer. Jones, a former Congressional staff is a current political science professor at Concordia University and is known for her student’s legislative work and passage of legislation. Students are selected for participation based on a competitive application process due April 1, 2012. The Academy Admission Council will announce both 2012 classes of the National and International on May 1, 2012 with a national press release scheduled for June 1, 2012. This year’s national students will assemble in at our Nation’s capital July 16 -20, 2012 and the international students will meet July 9 – 13, 2012.
