Happy Pride Month! Every Wallin Scholar deserves to show up fully as themselves in the classroom, in their career, and in the community. This month and every month, we celebrate the power, resilience, and brilliance of our LGBTQ+ scholars and allies. There is power in being yourself.

This AAPI Heritage Month, we’re celebrating stories that move communities forward.
Sunisa Lee made history as the first Hmong American Olympic gold medalist, and her story began right here in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her success is a powerful reminder that representation matters, especially for students who deserve to see their identities, cultures, and communities reflected in the possibilities ahead.
At Wallin, we’re honored to support students and alumni whose stories, leadership, and future impact continue to shape our community.

Last Thursday, we hosted our Kickstart Your Career event, creating space for Wallin Scholars to strengthen their resumes, gain practical career insights, and learn from professionals as they prepare for what’s next.
We’re grateful to Genesys Works and Dougherty Family College for supporting this event, and to Katie Selby and James Cooper for sharing their knowledge, encouragement, and experience.
Opportunities like these provide scholars with meaningful support as they define their goals and prepare for their future.

Last week, Wallin advisors Mia and Firi traveled to Washington, D.C. to visit our 14 Howard scholars.
They met with students on campus, connected with staff, and toured Howard University—building relationships that support scholar success. They also hosted a group outing so students could connect and build community.
While in D.C., they caught up with Wallin’s President & CEO, Mohamed Sallam, who was in town for a conference.
Experiences like this highlight how advising and strong relationships help scholars thrive, both in college and beyond.

This year, Wallin will welcome more than 350 4-year scholars. At the same time, more than 700 students remain on the waitlist, eligible and seeking support.
Through the Community Scholarship Fund, your gift can help make Wallin’s program possible for one more scholar.
