In the best interest of the health and safety of our students and staff, all Saint Paul Public Schools will be closed for the rest of the school year, due to the hot weather.

Students will not switch to distance learning for these days; however, they will be able to turn in assignments. This also means students currently enrolled in virtual learning will not have class after today, June 8.

Our buildings will remain open this week and on Monday, June 14, for students to pick up and drop off materials. School staff will be at buildings to receive assignments and complete end-of-year procedures.

Athletics, performances, activities and graduation ceremonies will continue as planned. Schools will provide more information where applicable.

Meal boxes will be available for pick up at schools. See pickup times and locations here https://bit.ly/3zcKsib. Families that were scheduled for meal delivery this Friday will receive delivery as normal.

Current Discovery Club families will have care available at Rondo, Horace Mann and Expo on June 9-11. Families must register for the care needed through their online account (https://bit.ly/3pvsIKA).

We are very sorry to have to end the school year in this way. We know how much students and staff look forward to this time of year. This is not how any of us wanted this school year to end. We know our families and staff have been through so much and appreciate all of your support this year.

**Goal Met!** Thanks!

Our music teacher, Ms. Edlund, has been brainstorming some creative ways to safely make music for in-person learning. Help or share if you can!

“As I return to in person instruction next week, I’m working on ways to teach engaging music instruction to my k-5 students, from 6 feet away, when we can’t sing, play shared instruments or move around the room. If anyone feels called to help me purchase items for creative instruction I’d be so grateful! My goal is to keep them off iPads and actively engaged with hands on learning!

Edited to add: I teach at Four Seasons Arts Plus Elementary School in St. Paul, MN.”

As we transition to in-person learning, families have an opportunity to choose their preferred learning model -- to continue with distance learning through the Virtual Learning School or move to full-time, in-person learning.

We understand this is a difficult decision for our families, and want to give people an extension to make this decision over the weekend.
