Kente Summit

Kente Summit The first The Kente Summit for Collegiate Black Men was held on Saturday, December 3, 2011, on the campus of Hamline University in St. Paul.

To bring together male college students of African descent who attend colleges and universities to build community across campuses, identities, experiences, and commonly faced issues. This summit brought together over 70 undergraduate male college students of African descent who attend the colleges and universities in the state of Minnesota in order to build community across campuses, identities, experiences, and commonly faced issues. The goals for the summit were to (a) create networking opportunities to expand peer and community support networks; (b) provide student participants with professional Black male role models who could motivate and inspire participants for success in and after college; and (c) identify and address challenges and opportunities for participants related to their engagement and retention at colleges in Minnesota.
