The BELS Board of Directors recently reviewed and updated its Code of Ethics to reflect changes in editorial practice, including emerging considerations related to artificial intelligence. In this webinar, members involved in the review process will present the key updates and discuss their implications for editors. The program will also include a short presentation on the ethical use of AI, including issues such as transparency and disclosure. The session will conclude with an open discussion, giving BELS members an opportunity to share their questions, experiences, and perspectives on ethical issues in editorial practice.

BELS is proud to announce the creation of two new member categories for the 2027 membership year starting in October 2026—the Student membership level and the Pathway to the Pin membership level.

With the implementation of these two additional member categories, BELS intends to better support emerging editorial professionals through their education and early experience as they work towards the ultimate goal of earning their ELS designation.

Through live demonstrations, you will see how macros can handle common editing tasks for you, such as fixing punctuation and capitalization errors, checking the consistency of proper nouns, cross-checking citations against the reference list, adding terms to your style sheet, and looking up information online.
