Our mission is to recruit, prepare, place and retain Black male educators in elementary schools.

Today we celebrate Juneteenth the day in 1865 when freedom finally reached the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas. 🎶✊🏿

For us, Juneteenth is a celebration of joy and resilience: the music, the gatherings, the generations who held on to hope and passed it forward. That spirit lives in everything Black Men Teach does.

Our mission is simple and powerful recruit, prepare, place, and retain Black male teachers in Minnesota's elementary schools. When a Black boy has a Black male teacher, he's far more likely to stay in school and see a future for himself. That's freedom in action, one classroom at a time.

So today, we dance. We remember. We give thanks. And tomorrow, we get back to building futures brick by brick. 🧱

Happy Juneteenth from all of us at Black Men Teach. 🌍

Representation changes what students believe is possible.

Black Men Teach is doing the work to recruit, prepare and retain more Black male teachers in elementary school classrooms. This mission is about more than filling classrooms. It is about making sure young people can see themselves reflected in leadership, learning and possibility.

This year, we are honored to have and serve as the official hosts for the Black Men Teach Gold Star Gala. As journalists, storytellers and trusted voices in our Minnesota community, Alexis and Reggie understand the power of showing up for work that impacts the next generation.

The Gala is sold out and registration is closed, but the mission continues. On June 20, we will gather for a night filled with community, joy, inspiration and impact as we raise funds to help change what education looks like for our students.

And like Alexis and Reggie said...

It’s going to be a party.
