She has watched over this harbor for a thousand years.

Spakonufell, the Prophetess Mountain, rises above the fishing fleet of Skagastrond in northern Iceland. It was named for Bordis, a 10th-century seeress who was the first known inhabitant of this peninsula. She rode to Iceland's ancient parliament to settle legal disputes. She was respected across the entire region. And according to local legend, her treasure chest still rests somewhere near that summit, key still in the keyhole.

I stood at the harbor's edge and felt all of it. The ancient mountain. The still water. The boats that still carry this village's name on their hulls.

Ancient and alive at the same time.

This image is available as a limited edition fine art metal print, just 25 in the edition, up to 60 inches wide.

Have you ever stood somewhere and felt the full weight of its history? Tell me where.

There are places in this world that ask you to slow down.

Staircase in Olympic National Park is one of them.

I spent a morning here among ancient old-growth evergreens along the North Fork Skokomish River, watching golden light move through the canopy and wrap itself around long trailing moss that has been growing in this forest for generations. Everything was quiet. Everything was glowing.

The Pacific Northwest has a way of reminding you what matters.

This image is now available as a limited edition fine art metal print, just 25 in the edition, up to 60 inches wide. The kind of piece that transforms a wall into something you feel.

Have you ever visited Olympic National Park? What part of it stayed with you longest?

There is a moment in a botanical garden when everything else disappears.

I was walking through the Orchid Conservatory at the South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, and this Cattleya orchid stopped me cold. The colors were almost unreal, deep reds and warm golds blazing against soft petals that looked almost painted. The conservatory is home to more than 3,000 orchids, but this one had a presence all its own. I remember thinking, this is not decoration. This is drama.

As a fine art photographer, I am drawn to the moments nature creates that most people walk right past. My job is to slow down long enough to see them, and then bring that beauty back to you. This image now lives as a large-scale fine art print, and when it hangs on a wall, it does not blend in. It commands the room the same way it commanded that conservatory.

I am curious: do you have a flower or plant that has ever genuinely stopped you in your tracks? What was it about it that got you?

If you would love to bring that kind of bold, living color into your home or workspace, this print is available now through the link in my bio or at the link below. As one of Minnesota's top five landscape photographers, I put the same care into every print that I put into every shot.

📸 Why aren’t my photos selling?

I hear this question from photographers all the time.

And honestly… I understand the frustration.

You spend years learning your camera.
You chase sunrises.
You study composition.
You invest thousands of dollars into equipment.
You finally start creating images you are truly proud of…

And then you put your work out into the world and hear…

Silence.

No sales.
No inquiries.
No collectors.

It is discouraging.

But after 20+ years of building Wayne Moran Photography, growing an online gallery to over 5.6 million visitors, working with major organizations, and seeing my work collected around the country, I’ve learned something important:

Great photography matters.

But great photography alone usually isn’t enough.

Artists also have to learn:
✔ how to tell the story behind their work
✔ how to find the right audience
✔ how to build trust
✔ how to communicate value
✔ how to show up consistently

The good news?

These are skills. They can be learned.

I put together my thoughts here:

For the photographers here:

Have you ever struggled with the business side of photography?

What has been harder for you:
creating the art or learning how to sell it?

Some places are so beautiful that even when you are standing right in front of them, they almost don’t feel real.

Crater Lake in Oregon was one of those places for me.

After traveling through the Pacific Northwest chasing waterfalls, mountains, forests, and dramatic landscapes, we arrived at this incredible view overlooking one of the great natural wonders of America.

The first thing that hits you is the color.

That blue.

It almost seems impossible.

Created after the eruption and collapse of an ancient volcano thousands of years ago, Crater Lake slowly filled with rain and snow, creating the deepest lake in the United States and some of the clearest, bluest water anywhere in the world.

But what I remember most wasn’t the statistics.

It was standing there quietly taking it all in.

Those are the moments I love chasing as a photographer.

Moments that remind us to explore more, notice more, and never lose our sense of wonder.

The world is filled with extraordinary beauty if we take the time to go find it.

Have you ever visited a place that completely exceeded your expectations?

🇺🇸 250 Years of Freedom 🇺🇸

For nearly 250 years, this flag has represented an incredible idea…

That freedom matters.

The American story is filled with courage, sacrifice, dreams, innovation, struggles, victories, and generations of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

The bald eagle has always inspired me.

Strength.
Vision.
Resilience.

A reminder to rise above the storms.

As America approaches its 250th anniversary, I created this artwork to celebrate the beauty of freedom and the responsibility we have to cherish it.

🇺🇸 I would love to know…

What is one thing about America you are thankful for?

🇺🇸 250 Years of Freedom 🇺🇸

For nearly 250 years, the American flag has represented a bold and beautiful idea…

That freedom is worth fighting for.
That courage matters.
That ordinary people can build something extraordinary.

This design brings together two of America’s most powerful symbols:

🦅 The bald eagle, strength, vision, and resilience.
🇺🇸 The American flag, sacrifice, hope, and unity.

As America approaches its 250th anniversary, I wanted to create something that celebrates the incredible story we are blessed to be part of.

Not a perfect story.
But a remarkable one.

A story of courage, sacrifice, dreams, and generations of people working toward something greater.

Question for you:
🇺🇸 What is one thing about America you are most thankful for?

Show me a place where a hike completely surprised you…

For me, this was one of those places.

Smith Rock State Park near Bend, Oregon.

We started our Pacific Northwest adventure here, and honestly, what a way to begin.

Towering volcanic cliffs.
The peaceful Crooked River winding through the canyon.
Hikers disappearing into a landscape that feels almost too dramatic to be real.

But the best adventures are never just about the scenery.

They’re about the memories.
The conversations.
The people you share them with.
The reminder that there is still so much beauty waiting to be discovered.

That is why I love photography.

Not just to capture what a place looked like, but to capture what it felt like.

What hike or adventure surprised you the most?

Gateway to Another Time 🌿

Have you ever walked into a place and immediately felt yourself slow down?

That was my experience standing beneath the ancient live oaks of Wormsloe in Savannah, Georgia.

The massive trees, the sweeping branches, the Spanish moss gently hanging in the air… it felt less like walking down a road and more like stepping into a story.

This is one of the things I love most about photography.

A camera doesn’t just capture what something looked like.

It captures:
✨ the feeling
✨ the memory
✨ the wonder of being there

My hope is that my art helps people bring a little more beauty, peace, and adventure into the spaces where they live every day.

Question for you…

🌿 What place have you visited that completely stopped you in your tracks?

Photos from Wayne Moran Photography's post 05/31/2026

Today I noticed something I never imagined when I first picked up a camera...

My photography gallery just crossed 5.6 million visits.

When I started, I wasn't thinking about numbers.

I was simply trying to capture the beauty I saw in the world.

Over the years, photography has taken me from Minnesota's North Shore to Iceland's waterfalls, from the streets of Paris to the mountains, coastlines, and hidden corners of places I never dreamed I'd visit.

Along the way, I've met incredible people, made lifelong friends, and had opportunities that photography alone could never have provided.

My purpose has always been simple:

To inspire people to rediscover beauty, creativity, and possibility so they can live more meaningful, adventurous, and fully alive lives.

To everyone who has followed my journey, shared a post, left a comment, purchased a print, attended a class, read an article, or simply paused long enough to enjoy an image...

Thank you.

You are the reason this milestone matters.

One question:
Of all the places I've photographed over the years, which image or location has been your favorite?

I'd love to hear your answer.
