The Get Ready GEAR UP Minnesota program, through the Office of Higher Education, works with students from low-income families and groups traditionally underrepresented. The Get Ready program helps prepare students from low-income families and those from groups traditionally underrepresented in college with college planning information, academic tutoring and information on career and higher education options through 9 predetermined schools in the Twin Cities metro.

We are hiring Get Ready Ambassadors!

Candidates interested in this paid, part time position must be a current sophomore, junior, or senior in college. Ambassadors will provide current, lived-experiences as a peer-to-peer mentor to support current high school students exploring postsecondary pathways in the Get Ready program

Those interested can apply through the State of Minnesota Careers website. Applications close on June 18th!

The 2025-26 Get Ready FAFSA Challenge wrapped in May, and the results are worth celebrating!

More than half of participating schools with available data increased FAFSA completion by 5% or more, helping more Minnesota students access financial aid and postsecondary opportunities.

If you attend (or attended) a Get Ready GEAR UP Minnesota high school, this is your chance to get extra support for your plans after graduation - whether that’s a 2-year program, certification, or a 4-year college in Minnesota.

You could receive:
$1,000 for 2-year programs or certifications
$3,000 for 4-year colleges (public or private)

It’s a one-time scholarship that can be used for tuition, fees, books, housing, and more. Priority deadline is April 25th, so apply now!
