Congratulations to FSMN Alum, Isabella Star LaBlanc! She is starring as Louisa/Jo March in the Guthrie's "Louisa May Alcott's Little Women." It runs through June 21st.
Our FSMN middle school Theater Appreciation Club went to see "Louisa May Alcott's Little Women" at the Guthrie. They loved it.
"It was so moving."
"The acting was amazing"
"The sets were beautiful"
There is still time to see Isabella in this iconic role. If we have said it once, we have said it a thousand times, we are so impressed by our alumni.

Congratulations to 2006 FSMN graduate, Chesa, for her role in "Fefu and her Friends." The play runs through May 28th and is at the The Searle Mansion. So exciting to hear about all of the interesting things our alumni are doing out in the world. https://www.theatreprorata.org/production-history/fefu-and-her-friends

Thank you to all of the alumni and alumni families who volunteered at the Friends School Plant Sale! We know we didn’t catch all of you for a photograph, we’re sorry if we missed you in our collage!
Special thanks to FSMN alumni, Ruby Thompson, who created our 2026 Plant Sale design!

One week ago today, two 8th grade Friends School students and our head of school were being interviewed by a local TV station at the Friends School Plant Sale!
We had an amazing sale. Thanks to the mostly local growers we work with, the 2,000 volunteers - including current families, alumni families, and alumni. Thanks as well to our students who work incredibly hard at the sale (one student exclaimed, “I walked 17,000 steps today!). Max and Finn, thank you for being willing to be interviewed. You make us proud.
A HUGE thank you to our community of shoppers. You come out every year to support our school and buy affordable plants that aren’t treated with neonicontinoids.
Many times during the sale, we heard shoppers say things like…
"This is my happy place"
It is our happy place as well.

This past week, we celebrated Earth Day by cleaning out storm drains. Thanks to our Friends School 6th graders for doing the work to support our waterways.
Thanks to Adopt-a-Drain MN for helping to inspire this work in our community.
Storm drains flow directly to local lakes, rivers, and wetlands, acting as a conduit for trash and organic pollutants. When you adopt a storm drain in your neighborhood and keep it clear of leaves, trash, and other debris, you help reduce water pollution. It is a great way for our students to live the Quaker value of Stewardship.

At Friends School of Minnesota, we know that moving our bodies is very important and that offering students a variety of ways to move their bodies means that each student will find something that they enjoy.
Our climbing wall is something that students like to use and it offers a wide variety of benefits. Climbing walls challenge the “whole” child.
Climbing on a climbing wall is a great activity in a school that values whole-child education because, along with the physical benefits, there are social-emotional benefits.
- When students spend time climbing, they build resilience and perseverance. It is an activity that is both very individual and collaborative. Students support each other and offer advice while they climb together.
- Students can easily see their progress. This helps them build confidence and develop self-efficacy.
Read more about how climbing walls support student development in this blog post.

The Environmental Action Committee (EAC) made origami cranes to hang in the office. The goal is to prevent birds that are migrating in the spring from colliding with the office windows. They also look beautiful.
Thank you to the students in the EAC for creating art that makes our spaces more inspiring AND for helping birds.
