Congratulations to the Twin Cities campus! Today at the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, the Gophers took home the award for highest voter turnout in 2018 in the Big Ten...And in the NATION among large, four year, public universities!

Both the House and Senate have now passed their Higher Ed bills. As you may know, the U of M requested $87 million from the state to maintain excellence by attracting and keeping the best faculty and staff, improving our research infrastructure, and continuing to offer student services that have drastically increased the U of M system’s four-year graduation rates. Since then, Governor Walz proposed $51 million for the U of M. The Senate bill contains $24 million in new base funding for the U of M, and along with being nearly $60 million under what is required to continue meeting needs, it contains language freezing tuition. Today, the House passed its bill, providing $114 million for the U of M, funding our needs and providing enough in additional resources to hold tuition flat for Minnesota resident undergrads at all campuses.
We need you to contact your lawmakers and implore them to support the House version of this bill, and help avoid tuition increases or cuts that hurt the mission. You can quickly take action here.
