Our STEM lesson at the Shizuoka STEM Academy made the local news. A great opportunity to share our STEM approach with Japanese faculty, teachers, and students.

This week we provided STEM PD for 68 elementary teachers. A lot of hard work, but what a great group of teachers!

As part of our continued collaboration with our partners at Shizuoka University, Professor Gillian Roehrig and Jeanna Wieselmann were in Shizuoka Feb 7 - 14 to share new research on STEM education. They presented STEM activities for middle school students at the Shizuoka STEM academy, presented workshops for teachers and faculty, and initiated discussion for a new partnership with Mishima Super Global High School.
The STEM Education Center just received a new grant from NSF - Persistence, Effectiveness and Retention Studies In STEM Teaching - in partnership with University of Nebraska - Lincoln and University of Massachusetts - Boston. This project will offer workshops for faculty interested in learning more about Track 4 Noyce proposals.

Dr. Elizabeth Ring-Whalen, Dr. Emily Dare, Dr. Gillian Roehrig and Jeanna Wieselmann were awarded third place for the Best Paper presented at the 5th International STEM conference in Brisbane, Australia. The paper presented was "Bringing STEM conceptions to life through integrated STEM curriculum implementation: A multiple case study in elementary science classrooms"

UMN program aims to reduce inequality in STEM More than 20 biology instructors from universities across the country gathered at the University of Minnesota Saturday to brainstorm solutions to inequity in science, technology, engineering and math.
