Love the vibrant Midway neighborhood in St. Paul? Want to help make our community an even greater place to live, learn, work, and play? HMC is looking for two passionate, community-minded individuals to join us starting late summer/fall 2026! 🏘️✨

Here are the open positions:

1️⃣ Community Organizer (Part-Time)
Compensation: $20 - $28 / hour

Hours: 20 hours/week (Highly flexible, hybrid options, includes some evenings/weekends)

The Role: Run communications and outreach campaigns, support our resident-led committees (Environment, Transportation), boost our social media presence, and build strong relationships with local businesses and diverse cultural groups.

Start Date: August 2026 (flexible)

2️⃣ Artist-in-Residence (1-Year Temporary Term)
Compensation: $25 - $32 / hour (plus dedicated project/materials budget!)

Hours: 15 - 20 hours/week (Highly flexible, hybrid options, includes some evenings/weekends)

The Role: Use your creative practice to translate local environmental & air quality data into public art, design community workshops, and collaborate on public placemaking/pop-up activations to support our local business corridors.

Duration: September 2026 – August 2027 (flexible)

Our next visiting author is Jakob Guanzon! Join us on Thursday, April 11th in West Hall 240 at 7pm to hear from the internationally acclaimed author of 2021's Abundance (Graywolf Press).

Jakob Guanzon is the author of Abundance, which was longlisted for both the National Book Award and the Aspen Words Literary Prize in 2021, and has been translated into multiple languages. His shorter works have appeared in BOMB, The New York Times, and elsewhere. He holds an MFA from Columbia University, and has since taught as part of the Zell Visiting Writers Series at the University of Michigan. He lives in Harlem.
