Pride in doing hard things - and wanting to do them again!

Our teaching staff loves developing relationships with each child and their family. Our teaching team takes the time to reach each child where they are and encourage them to keep growing . Here Teacher Anna introduces wood splitting to one of the preschoolers. It’s hard work that takes concentration, strength, persistence and patience. Snack is always better with friends and books! We work to have a 1:4 teacher:child ratio in our classrooms to help develop trusted relationships. In 2024 we had 32 families with 47 children join us and support our teachers and children.

On Wednesday, the Rockets and Stars began their day with shared playtime on the playground. Following our morning routine, the group hopped on scooters for an adventure to the Mississippi River, pausing to make wishes with dandelion "wish flowers" and enjoy lunch at the landmark "Jumping Rock."

Throughout their play, imaginative themes of castles, pirates, lions, tigers, and bears took hold. As lunch wrapped up, a game unfolded where, while the "royals" slept at Jumping Rock (their castle), a mischievous "bad guy" would pilfer their wands and swords.

Our journey continued down the enchanting steps to Longfellow Beach, where we entered a natural tunnel formed by a lush canopy of trees. Emerging onto the sandy shore, their play transformed to a pirate scenario. The children gleefully attacked these imaginary pirates with thick, gooey river mud. While gathering sand to toss into the river, they discovered the fascinating contrast of hot and cold patches within the sand.

As departure time approached, the children voiced their desire to stay longer and return soon. We promised a future visit with more time to explore. The return trip was warm, making the popsicles waiting for them a perfect, refreshing treat.
