TCML MN 明州臺灣華語文中心

TCML-MN staff and students attended the wonderful performance Glorious Taiwan presented by Formosa Melody Music Center on May 19. We were also honored to host a booth in the hallway to share our Mandarin learning resources, scholarship opportunities, cultural events, and registration information with the community.

Director Genera Lai visited our booth and, together with his wife, received two TCML-MN T-shirts as welcome gifts. It was such a pleasure to meet them in person!

We would also like to give a special shout-out to Michael from class L407, who hosted the event in Mandarin. The audience was truly impressed by his fluent and confident speech. He beautifully demonstrated one of the most important values of language learning — not only learning the language, but also using it to connect with others and contribute to the community.

🥇🥈🥉TCML-MN hosted the 2026 Mandarin Song Singing Contest on the final Saturday of our Spring Semester, and the event was a wonderful success!

We were delighted to have 4 group performances and 5 solo performances participate in this year’s competition. Everyone brought so much energy, talent, and enthusiasm to the stage!

Class L305 kicked off the event with the inspiring song 《我相信》, followed by a fun audience sing-along of 《對面的女孩看過來》 taught by Joseph Laoshi.

International Festival of Minnesota (iFest)

About the Festival:
Hosted by a nonprofit organization, iFest (formerly Festival of Nations) brings together over 70 nations and ethnic communities. This year’s theme is “Belonging.” The festival features:

🔸Cultural performances and demonstrations
🔸Traditional arts and crafts
🔸A wide variety of international foods and drinks

For many years, members of the Taiwanese community have participated in the former Festival of Nations, sharing our food, art, traditions, and culture with the broader community. We are excited to continue this tradition again this year!

💁TCCLS will offer calligraphy bookmarks

🌏 A Learning Journey from Minnesota to Taiwan

We are proud to share the story of Michael, a TCML–MN student who received the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship and spent a semester studying Mandarin at Tunghai University in Taiwan.

Through immersive language classes and cultural experiences—from farm visits to traditional performances —Michael not only improved his Mandarin but also gained a deeper understanding of Taiwanese culture. He shared that his strong foundation from TCML–MN helped him succeed in Taiwan’s intensive learning environment.

Michael’s experience reminds us that language learning is more than communication—it builds connections and cultural understanding.

全球華文網 - 臺灣華語文學習中心 Studying Mandarin in Taiwan helped me not only improve my language skills, but also connect more deeply with my wife’s family and Taiwanese culture. 

Thanks to TAAMN for hosting another fantastic Lunar New Year celebration for the community! TCML MN was proud to have our student Alicia serve as the event’s on-stage MC, where she demonstrated poise, confidence, and professionalism throughout the program.

Three of our advanced class students delivered a lively horse-themed idiom crosstalk performance that showcased both their language skills and sense of humor. Our students also performed songs and shared heartfelt New Year blessings on stage, bringing festive energy and warm wishes to everyone in attendance. Their dedication and teamwork truly shone through, and they delighted and surprised the audience with their wonderful performances.

We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in this meaningful community celebration and are incredibly proud of all our students for representing TCML MN so beautifully.

現場的應景美食、童玩、下棋與麻將，以及「財源滾滾」遊戲攤都大受歡迎，大小朋友玩得開心、年味滿滿！

TCML MN and TCCLS successfully co-hosted a joyful Lunar New Year celebration for the Year of the Horse!

A big thank you to the Ha Family Lion Dance Team for their spectacular performance, which kicked off the event with energy and festive spirit. Our TCML MN students proudly took the stage to share New Year blessings and songs, impressing everyone with their confidence and enthusiasm.

The cultural booths were a big hit—featuring festive foods, traditional games, chess and mahjong, and the popular “Wealth Rolling In” game station. Families and students had a wonderful time celebrating together.

Thank you to all the teachers, volunteers, students, and families who made this event so special. Wishing everyone a prosperous and joyful Year of the Horse! ✨
