At the end of May, we gathered to celebrate our Class of 2026 with a beautiful graduation Mass and ceremony! Fr. R.J.'s homily had the perfect message: these kids are so easy to celebrate. Looking around the church that evening, it was impossible not to be moved by the outpouring of love and support surrounding them. Their presence was a testament to the impact these young people have had on the lives of those around them. Our graduates are not only accomplished students, but also kind, thoughtful, and faith-filled individuals who have built meaningful relationships and touched countless lives throughout their time at STM.
To our graduates: we could not be more proud of you. While it is difficult to say goodbye, we are filled with excitement and hope as you take the next steps in your academic journeys. As you begin this new chapter, we pray that you carry with you the values of your Jesuit education: a commitment to faith, justice, compassion, service, and being a person for others. Know that you will always be part of the Saint Thomas More family, and we will always be cheering you on! May God continue to guide your path, bless your endeavors, and lead you closer to the person He needs you to be. Congrats Class of 2026! ๐๐

The Paul Molitor Award is presented each spring in honor of Major League Baseball great, Paul Molitor. Paul attended our school when it was known as Saint Lukeโs before continuing his baseball career at Cretin-Derham Hall and the University of Minnesota, eventually going on to have a distinguished Hall of Fame career in the MLB. โพ
This award is given to one eighth-grade boy and one eighth-grade girl who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to athletics throughout the year. These students embody the true spirit of sportsmanship, show respect for the game and for others, and continue to be supportive teammates long after the final whistle blows.
Congratulations to our 2026 Paul Molitor Award recipients: Fintan and Lucy! We are proud to celebrate your dedication, character, and leadership both on and off the field! ๐๐

Last week we had our annual Spring Concert, led by our incredible eighth graders! Each year, our graduating class takes the lead by choosing the theme, selecting the songs, and even writing the introductions for each performance. This year's theme was "One Hit Wonders," which meant crowd favorites like "Take On Me," "Somebody That I Used to Know," and "Riptide." The highlight of the night was seeing our Kindergartners perform the Macarena and then inviting the audience to join in! Weโre officially convinced every concert should include a dance break from now on.
The Spring Concert is always the perfect way to celebrate another wonderful school year coming to a close. Thank you Mr Po***ck for all the amazing work you do with our students! ๐ถ๐

These final weeks of school here at Saint Thomas More are full of traditions, and nothing brings the energy quite like the annual Staff vs. 8th Grade Volleyball Showdown! ๐๐ฅ
Every year, the competition is intense, the cheering is thunderous, and the finish is down-to-the-wire. Our 8th graders brought the heat, but this year the teachers and parish staff managed to defend their honor and take home the victory. Until next year, 8th gradeโฆweโll be ready! ๐

Earlier this month, we celebrated a beautiful May Crowning ceremony during School Mass with our First Communion students. May, traditionally dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, marks the end of winter and a time of new beginnings, gratitude, and renewed devotion. Surrounded by grandparents, special friends, and loved ones, our students honored Mary with flowers and prayers in this meaningful expression of our Catholic faith. Following Mass, we gathered for a sweet reception with donuts and coffee!
Thank you to all who joined us in making this cherished tradition so special for our students and families! ๐ธ๐ฉต

Joining the ranks of the Twin Cities Art-A-Whirl and Art in Bloom shows, is our STM Pre-K Art Show! Our littlest learners have been working on their masterpieces for weeks, learning about different artists, recreating some of their most famous works, and stretching different creative muscles. The amount of work that goes into this event certainly does not go unnoticed, and we couldn't be prouder of our Pre-K artists! ๐๏ธ๐จ๐ฉต

Last week, we were honored to welcome local Hmong author Kao Kalia Yang to our school for a special book signing and live reading of her book, "A Home on the Page."
Our students of Hmong heritage proudly wore traditional clothing, sharing with their classmates the beauty, history, and cultural significance woven into Hmong traditions and identity. Their presence reflected the importance of seeing culture as something deeply rooted, lived, and carried across generations.
In "A Home on the Page," Kao Kalia Yang introduces readers to Nou, a young girl searching for where home exists. For Nouโs father, home lives in his songs. For her mother, it grows in her garden. But after a hateful message is spray-painted on her familyโs mailbox, disrupting her sense of safety and belonging, Nou is forced to grapple with racism, displacement, and the painful question of where she belongs in this country.
As Nou navigates these experiences, she turns to storytelling and writing as a way to create home for herself, both on the page and in the world. Through this deeply personal story, Kao Kalia Yang invited our students to think about identity, memory, family, language, and the ways stories can help people claim space, preserve culture, and affirm who they are.
Our students were thrilled to meet Kao Kalia Yang as she signed books, shirts, and even a few arms while sharing conversation and laughter with our community. We are deeply thankful for her generosity, her storytelling, and the opportunity to learn from her voice and experiences.
Thank you, Kao Kalia Yang, for inspiring our STM community and helping us celebrate the richness of Asian American and Pacific Islander Month.
