Stokley joined us at Walker|West for a special afternoon of music, conversation, questions, selfies, and a whole lot of connection the day after headlining the 25th Annual Selby Avenue Jazz Fest.

A little jam with Kavyesh Kaviraj kicked things off and was a highlight for everyone packed into Harmony Hall.

🎻 Violittles Cohort II begins this fall!

Designed for K–3 students with little or no prior violin experience, Violittles is Walker West’s collaborative, cohort-based beginner violin program—building musical skills, confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music.

Students learn together in a supportive group setting while developing foundational skills in:
�🎶 Violin technique & care�🎶 Music reading, rhythm & simple songs�🎶 Ensemble playing & musical cooperation

No prior experience required. Students commit to a minimum of three years of focused study as they grow toward private lessons and advanced ensembles.

HOMIES IN HARMONY IS BACK— and registration is OPEN!

Auntie Jayanthi is welcoming our youngest musicians and their caregivers back to Walker|West this fall!

Designed for children ages 0–6, Homies in Harmony is a joyful introduction to music through singing, instruments, movement and early sound exploration — rooted in African American musical traditions, culture and history.
It’s more than a music class. It’s a chance to make musical memories together from the very beginning.

Yesterday at Walker|West was one for the books. 🎶🔥

Jimmy Jam. Terry Lewis. Stokley.

Three Minneapolis music legends spent time at Walker|West, touring the Academy and hanging out with our Digital Music Production students.

They got into the DMP lab, talked music, shared some words of wisdom, connected with students and teaching artists, and took a whole lot of photos along the way. For our students, getting to spend time with artists who helped shape the sound of Minneapolis — and music around the world — was pretty special.

This is what Walker|West is all about: connecting the next generation of musicians with the people who helped build the music legacy of this city.

And if you’re heading to the Minnesota State Fair, you can catch Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis performing at the Grandstand this Saturday.

We’re expecting some pretty incredible musical talent to stop by Walker|West tomorrow!

Minneapolis music legends Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis will be touring the Academy and checking out our Digital Music Production Camp — and we’ve also heard that Stokley Williams, 2026 Selby Avenue Jazz Fest headliner, may be stopping by as well.

No formal program. No meet-and-greet. Just some legendary Minneapolis musicians spending time at Walker|West and checking out what’s happening here.

The public is welcome to stop by and see what’s happening, too.
