The Bugs Below Zero project aims to research and raise awareness of winter active aquatic insects.

It consists of an interdisciplinary team of experts from the University of Minnesota, Southwest Minnesota State University, and MN Sea Grant. Welcome to the page of the Chironomid Research Group at the University of Minnesota.

Join us on Saturday (2/15) from 5-8pm at the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge Bloomington Education and Visitor Center for candlelit luminary trails, winter storytelling, and interactive insect science from the Bugs Below Zero team!

On Thursday, Dec 8th from 1:30-2:00pm, the Bugs Below Zero team will be hosting a virtual event for K12 classrooms called Macroinvertebrate Mania (details, registration, a teacher guide, and related educational resources can be found at https://www.bugsbelowzero.com/macroinvertrebrate-mania.)
