The 2024-2025 school year has come to an end. We hope all of our apprentices have a great summer break and we look forward to seeing our returning students again in the fall. Congratulations to our class of 2025 and best of luck as you take your journeyworker exams and move on to the next phase of your careers!

Today is National Be Electrific Day. This unofficial holiday is celebrated on Thomas Edison’s birthday in honor of electrification – the act of putting light where light has not been before.

Edison was born on this day 178 years ago, and in 1879, at 32 years old, invented the first commercially successful incandescent lamp. This invention helped spark the boom of the electrical industry (terrible pun intended), which eventually led to the formation of the IBEW as electricians organized for better pay and working conditions in the late 19th century.

It's the home stretch of the apprenticeship for our Class of 2025, who are taking their first semester test at the 292 Hall today.

The JATC is pleased to announce the promotion of Trevor Turek to Training Director, and John Kjome to Assistant Training Director. Trevor has been in the Training Director position since October 2024, with John now joining him as Assistant. Both Directors are long-term employees with the JATC, originally starting out in the classroom as Apprenticeship Instructors. Please help us in congratulating both Trevor & John!

MPLS Electrical JATC along with 115 vendors including a few electrical union contractors attended Big Lake HS who hosted 4 other schools today. The JATC shared the opportunities of going to an apprenticeship and becoming a union electrician.
