On Thursday, May 23rd, the fifth-grade class at St. Marys Catholic Elementary School held its annual Cardboard Carnival.

The students spent nine weeks in the fourth quarter designing carnival-themed games and building them out of only cardboard and duck tape. Each grade got to visit the carnival and play each game for a chance to win prizes, get their face painted, take pictures in the photo booth, and receive a bag of cotton candy!

Thank you to Mrs. Julie Skellen for organizing the event and all the staff who helped with face painting, the photo booth, and making cotton candy.

Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Brian Myers, ECCHS class of 2009, on his recent ordination to the priesthood. On May 29, Fr. Brian was ordained for the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter at the Cathedral of St. Cecilia in Omaha. A traditional Latin Mass of Thanksgiving was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, June 8.

Congratulations to Noah Cherry, Alex Ghar, Thomas Gilmore, Izzy Cicione, Brooke Dippold, Raegan Weaver, and Jenna Feronti on their Big 30 All-Star Charities Classic Football game selection!

Since 1974, this annual faceoff between PA and NY has raised over $2.1 million for charities and individuals in 36 cities.

The game and parade will be held in Bradford on Saturday, August 3.

To conclude their Bible studies at the end of the year, the third-grade class at St. Mary's Catholic Elementary School held a Bible Story performance for the school.

Each third grader made a “Bible Museum” exhibit depicting a story from the Bible, which was displayed before and after their performance.

Flowers are in full bloom in and out of the classroom!

This week, our summer art camp students worked on an Iris painting inspired by artist Vincent Van Gogh. The Iris flower symbolizes faith, hope, courage, wisdom, and admiration. We hope to instill these values in our students each and every day!

St. Leo Catholic School held its annual Sports Day.

Morning team competitions included a three-legged race, water balloon toss, wheel-barrow race, basketball, soccer, and through the hoop for grades 1-8. For lunch, students and their families enjoyed walking tacos provided by the SLS PTO. The day concluded with individual games for students in Kindergarten-4th grade while grades 5-8 participated in a Co****le Tournament.

Thank you to Mr. Slattery for capturing all the fun and helping plan the activities, and to all the staff, PTO, and parents who made this another memorable Sports Day! ❤

As we gear up for the 2024/2025 school year, Elk County Catholic School System is excited to announce Mitch O'Neill as our new Varsity Soccer Coach. We look forward to a successful season under his leadership. This will be Mitch's 8th year coaching ECC Soccer.

Mitch is a 2013 Alum and four-year letterwinner at ECC. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State and works as a Process Engineer at SGL Carbon.

Joining Mitch in coaching Varsity will be Tom Wanner and Jude Hoffman. Dom Scacchitti and Jesse Shirey will lead the JH team. "My goal for the team is to play at a competitive level, work hard, focus on the details, and help develop the athletes into successful young men on and off the field, said Mitch."

Get ready for an exciting summer of soccer! Our summer open-field soccer sessions for ECCSS JH and Varsity players will kick off on June 17. Join us every Monday and Wednesday from 6 to 7:45 p.m. at the Kersey Park multi-purpose fields for fun and competitive play.
