MinneMama Adventures Discovering everyday excursions and outings for families: https://www.minnemamaadventures.com I looked it up. I am one of those 433,000. Welllllll…. and we did ….

There are almost 1.3 million children in Minnesota between the ages of 0 and 17. I did some quick math and went with some very middle-of-the-road numbers, and assuming every family had three of those children, that leaves us with 433,000 parents – each one searching day in and day out for some way to entertain, exhaust and maintain living status of their adorably challenging kin. And I want to make your life easier. My name is Nicki and I’m a mid-30s mother of two. My husband is fan-freaking-tastic and works hard as a computer dude so I can spend time three days a week playing hard with our kiddos. I work at a desk job as an Art Director the other two days and I do have a passion for that as well. I’ve lived in the Twin Cities area (from Roseville to Oakdale to St. Louis Park) for more than a decade and now have a two and five-year old to keep busy. So, what can I do to help you? I want to save you the time of typing and searching through Google and give you ONE landing dock for multitudes of entertaining ideas for you and your children to gain some quality time together, creating memories with your littles. I want your kid to have a reason to go to school the next day and tell his friends, “My mom was so cool yesterday cuz she took me to …. and ate at ….!” And if you’re lucky, he’ll finish his sentence with, “I sure do love her.”

I also want your contributions. I’m open to additional ideas, and even additional writers. I want dads and nannies and teachers and babysitters. I want this to be a collaborative and realistic effort that will actually benefit our readers and I will do everything in my power to help make that happen on MinneMama Adventures.

It’s Kindness in Chalk season - dig out your summer chalk and arm yourselves with kindness. Spread a little joy October 12-14 to bring sunshine to your community.

Never participated before? This anti-bullying movement is a way to share uplifting words that could help get someone through a hard day. It’s “only chalk”, they’re “only words”, you’re “only one person.” But spreading kindness WILL make a difference. Join us and be part of the movement!

Well, what an unexpected ride THAT was! The story of Pinocchio has always felt a little wooden to me (see what I did there?), but holy Geppetto - did the Children's Theatre Company change that for me real fast! The show, playing now through October 18, presented the fairytale in the most unique way!

Through theater basics like lighting, projection, narration, and costuming, you’d never believe the same stage covered in ladders and metal pails could become a school, a circus, the woods, the ocean, and the inside of a whale’s stomach! Truly remarkable - truly hilarious - truly magical. I want to see it again, and that’s no lie (see what I did there again?)

Ideal ages are 5-10, but I’m 45 and loved it. Grab your seats today! Tickets are available here:. https://childrenstheatre.org/whats-on/pinocchio/

So so so many adorable, artsy, amazing fairy gardens line the walking trails of the Westwood Hills Nature Center in St. Louis Park. Their Trail of Small Wonders grows bigger and better every year! Worth a visit and completely free. When you’re done checking out the houses, walk the loop around the lake and look for turtles, deer, or even baby muskrats (we saw one of these little guys today). Thanks to the St. Louis Park Friends of the Arts for putting this on every year.

🥏Braved the storm last night and hit up a home game of the Minnesota Wind Chill, our state’s men’s professional ultimate frisbee team. They play at Sea Foam Stadium in St. Paul and they were SO ENJOYABLE to watch!

Tickets are as cheap as $17 and parking was easy to find for free. The vibe was all positive energy, the food trucks were fantastic, the mascots were adorable, the merch was quality, the players were talented and truly having a great time out there - and the rain? Well, that was cold. But can’t do much about that. Wind Chill is currently undefeated and have a few home games left so pick up some tickets today and show your support! Even if you know nothing about the sport, I promise, it’ll be entertaining for the whole family!

Who hasn’t dreamed of spending a day over the rainbow? Surrounding by music? With the cutest puppy in the universe by your side? From now until June 14, your kiddo can experience this dream in real life at the Children's Theatre Company from the comfort of their own seat. “The Wizard of Oz” is playing – and it’s an absolute delight. The colors were vibrant, the story is classic, and the singing would make Judy Garland proud. Join the crew down the yellow brick road by purchasing tickets now to see it for yourself: https://childrenstheatre.org/whats-on/the-wizard-of-oz-2/

The show is 2 hours long with one intermission. It’s best suited for lions and tigers and bears – and of course kids of all ages.
