During the month of July, our Campus Ministry office is closed. July is a gift of rest, continued formation, and much prayer as we spiritually prepare for another liturgical and academic year at .

On this particular summer, I have the joy of journeying to Subiaco, Italy, with my family. This morning, after a cappuccino at the monastery, I made my way to the Sacred Cave (Sacro Speco), where Saint Benedict spent years in prayer and solitude after leaving Rome. It was here, in the quiet of the mountains, that he began the journey that would one day give rise to Benedictine monasticism, a tradition rooted in prayer, hospitality, community, and the continual search for God. It is a spirituality that continues to inspire and sustain my vocation as a minister.

Today, my prayers at the cave are for our Campus Ministers, our ministry staff, , our Bennies & Johnnies, and our young alumni as they enter the world carrying with them the wisdom of Saint Benedict: to listen deeply to God and to one another always rooted in community as we seek God’s calling in our lives.

And because it wouldn’t be a Benedictine pilgrimage without running into someone you know, hello from Andrew, who is completing his year of service with .bvc!

See you soon, Bennies & Johnnies. You are loved! -Cindy Gonzalez, Director of Campus Ministry

Saint Benedict, ora pro nobis 🤲🏽

The definition of joy is a resilient inner state that exists even during times of suffering, grief, or trial. It is a choice of the will to remain united with God. Bennies & Johnnies, you are the face of joy. 🥹 ❤️
