It's time for CRAM THE CUPBOARD 2026!

The Division of Student Affairs invites all faculty, staff & Registered Student Organizations to form a team and participate in our 2nd annual CanStruction Competition, a friendly, campus-wide competition to support the MoWest Campus Cupboard and help students in need!

This year’s theme is FICTIONAL CHARACTERS.

Structure Assembly:
Monday October 26th - Wednesday October 28th
Blum Union, 1st Floor
Size Limit: 3’ x 3’ and height of 4’

People’s Choice voting takes place the week of October 26
Winners will be announced Thursday, October 29.
Prizes will be awarded for First Place, People’s Choice, and Best RSO Structure.

Not building a structure? You can still help!
Donation bins will be available the week of October 26 in Ag-Rem, Blum Union, ResLife, Popplewell, Eder, Murphy, Potter Hall, Wilson, and Hearnes. Donations may also be dropped off at the Dean of Students Office on the second floor of Blum Union.

Most needed items:
Microwavable meals, pasta and sauce, canned proteins, cereal, granola bars, peanut butter and jelly, ramen, oatmeal, fruit, bread, bottled drinks, laundry detergent pods, dish detergent, personal hygiene products, socks, gloves, scarves, and earmuffs.

Let’s show our Griffon pride, get creative, and help ensure our campus community has access to the food and essentials they need. Every donation makes a difference!

A HUGE thank you to the 35–40 amazing volunteers who came out for Campus Beautification Day yesterday! It was a HOT afternoon, and we know there were plenty of places you could have been, but you chose to show up and show your Griffon pride.

Together, we planted trees and flowers, scrubbed signs, trimmed shrubs, and helped make our MoWest campus a little more beautiful.

Our 2026 HOCO theme is "Homegrown - Plant Your Legacy,” and we can’t think of a better way to put that into action. Every tree we planted, every flower bed we cleaned up, and every sign we scrubbed was a small reminder that we all have the opportunity to leave our mark on MoWest.

That is what leaving a legacy is all about. Not necessarily doing something huge or having your name attached to something, but choosing to make a difference and making the place around you better because you were there.

Thank you for choosing to spend part of your afternoon serving MoWest and showing your Griffon pride. I am incredibly grateful for each of you!

A big THANK YOU to our Associated General Contractors and Society of Manufacturing Engineering Clubs, along with their advisor and faculty member, Angie Caw, for volunteering at St. Joseph Habitat for Humanity’s annual Keys to Success fundraising dinner last night!

Their willingness to give their time and support Habitat’s mission is a wonderful example of putting our Griffon values into action!

Habitat for Humanity works to strengthen neighborhoods and expand access to affordable homeownership for families and individuals who may otherwise face barriers to owning a home. It's about more than building houses. It's about helping everyday people put down roots, creating stability, and building stronger communities for us all.

This year, connecting our engineering students with an organization working within their own field was an intentional opportunity to bring classroom learning and community service together. We're proud to see our students building connections, giving back, and using their talents to make a difference right here in our community!

Thank you for showing up, pitching in, and helping build something bigger than yourselves!

Did you miss the opportunity to give blood during our 9/11 Tribute Week? Our MoWest Student Nurses Association is giving you a second chance, with longer hours, during their annual Homecoming blood drive!

Join them for their upcoming Blood Drive on Friday, October 9, from 10 AM–4 PM in the Center for Student Involvement, 1st Floor of Blum Union!

Every blood donation can help save up to 3 lives, so your decision to donate could make a life-or-death difference for someone in our community.

Already donated in September? Unfortunately, you are not eligible to donate again just yet, but you can still help save lives!

Thank you to everyone who joined us Saturday morning for our latest Sleep in Heavenly Peace bed build. Whether you're a Griffon, a family member, or community friend, you helped make a very real difference for children right here in St. Joseph.

Over the course of just four hours, 112 volunteers came together to build the pieces needed to provide beds for 70 local children. That means 70 more children will soon have a safe, comfortable place to sleep each night, something many of us may take for granted.

This build also brought our MoWest grand total to 242 beds built, representing dozens of local families who have been impacted by the generosity of our volunteers. Thank you for showing what it looks like when we come together to serve others. Your time, energy, and compassion are what make events like this possible, and I am so grateful you chose to spend part of your Family Day serving alongside us.

Special thanks, as always, to Sleep in Heavenly Peace - KS, Benedictine College, our local coordinator, Tonya Ball, and Lowe's Home Improvement for this incredible partnership.
