Sophomore Colin Kelley, has some big shoes to fill. I mean, really big shoes his father Pete an alum of Benton High School competed at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta for the 🇺🇸 Weightlifting Team after winning Gold in the Sn**ch and Bronze in the overall category at the 1995 Pan American Games. Pete, is a member of not only the Saint Joseph Sports Hall of Fame but the USA Weightlifting Hall of Fame, also. His brother Cole, just graduated as the Valedictorian from Benton High School in May winning a Gold 🏅as a soloist playing Cello at the MSHSAA Music Festival. Cole, also played football and was a member of the Track and Field team while at Benton. The Kelley brothers also have a younger sister, Addison competing in various sports namely, softball. Colin, hasn't rested on his Dad and Brother's accomplishments. He's putting in the work not only on the field and weight room, but most importantly the classroom and music room. Colin, has spent his time this summer playing American Legion ⚾️ for Post 11, mowing lawns and getting stronger in the weight room, just like Dad. He's been tapping into the genes forwarded to him by his parents (Pete and Janelle). Pete, set the American Sn**ch record at US Olympic Weightlifting Trials held at the Saint Joe Civic Arena with an impressive lift of 172.5 kilo-snatch. Before, that he was starring on the gridiron at Benton. Colin, not only plays baseball but he also plays 🏈 and competes in local weightlifting competitions just like Dad. He posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in his Freshman year and also participates in orchestra as a cellist, like his brother Cole. This sophomore, has three more years ahead of him and he's not going to let hard-work keep him from succeeding. Last year, Colin rose through the ranks earning a varsity jersey playing solid defense and swinging a consistent bat.
