Way to go, NHS! 🥳

NHS Earns National Chapter of Distinction! ❤️🐯🤍

St. James R-1 High School's National Honor Society has earned national recognition for the leadership and service its students bring to our school and community.

With 70 members, NHS students lead projects like weekly school recycling and twice-yearly blood drives, while also finding their own ways to give back.

We’re proud to see their work recognized on a national level. Help us congratulate them on this accomplishment!

Mrs. Harlan has begun presenting the Gateway Reader Nominees to the English classes. If students read at least two books they will be put on the Gateway readers list as well as getting the ability to vote on their favorite come March. Books range from Fantasy to Mystery, and beyond. With varying authors and themes students have the ability to continue to learn even more outside of the classroom.

🏆 WHAT A DAY FOR OUR CC TEAM! 🏆
Our Cross Country team had an incredible day at the Gans Creek Classic, and our boys brought home the MEET CHAMPIONSHIP! 🎉🏃‍♂️💨

Coach Hodge summed up the day perfectly:

“Boys Team WON IT!
Everyone either got a season best, or PR’ed and accomplished their meet goal. It was so awesome to see. More than winning, I was excited to see them celebrate each other more than themselves.”
Congratulations to all of our runners on an incredible meet! We are so proud of you! 👏🔥
ONE TEAM. ONE GOAL. ONE AMAZING DAY. 🏆💪

We were excited to host students and staff from RTI/RTC yesterday as they came to St. James to learn more about our Tiger Express program.

It was a great opportunity for our students to showcase the work they have been doing and share some of the success of Tiger Express. It was also a chance to connect with other students and educators, exchange ideas, and learn from one another.

We appreciate RTI/RTC taking the time to visit and collaborate with us!

Mrs. Wantland’s Great Books class started in their Literature circles last week! Using their Critical Thinking skills students began discussing the cultural impact of the novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian written by Sherman Lexy.

Over the next several weeks students will use the jobs assigned to them to continue exploring the book, looking for other possible themes, symbols, real-world connections, possible questions they have, and more!

Tigers meet St. Louis Cardinals!

Last week, DECA and Sports & Entertainment Marketing students attended the STL Cardinals Career Day. These students showcased what being Future Focused means!

The day started with getting to hear from a panel of executives in Human Resources, Marketing, Ticketing, Cardinals TV, and FOX2 News Anchor. The panel discussed careers in sports and media, what skills are needed to succeed, and provided insight into the obstacles they face in their positions. There was also a college fair, they then had the opportunity to watch the STL Cardinals game!
