The Mechanical Principles class had a great afternoon touring the St. Henry Tile Co. While there, students learned about the truck loading process, from batching and automation to material handling. Students were able to see how computerized control systems measure exact quantities of sand, gravel, cement, water, and chemical admixtures for specific batches, as well as explore the storage bins, cement silos, and conveyor systems that move raw ingredients. In addition, students toured the precast building, as well as the office, where they had the opportunity to see how the dispatcher manages trucks and schedules.
