Dear St. Helens High School Community,
This message is coming to you from St. Helens teachers & staff. We are taking it upon ourselves to communicate a message that we hope you will hear.
The events of the last few days have damaged everyone’s trust in the school--students, families, community members, and staff alike.
Feelings of disappointment, betrayal, fear, and shame around these events are affecting everyone--students, families, community members, and staff alike.
To say the least, we are ALL struggling right now with what it means to be a Lion.
However, we want you to know that we want what’s best for students, and change needs to happen. We are working right now. We are meeting, listening, asking so many questions, and trying to figure out a way forward that can bring this school together in the wake of a crisis that should never happen to any school.
But it did.
And now we have to figure out what it WILL mean to be a Lion. Together. This message is from us: the folks at St. Helens High School who open the doors, talk and listen to students, help them learn, and cheer them on. We want you to know that we are in this together. We, like you, are ready for change.
The coming days, weeks, and months are not going to be easy. There is much repair and rebuilding of trust to be done. But if we do it right, we can make St. Helens High School a place where being a Lion is a great thing.
Sincerely,
St. Helens High School Staff
