Drivers in Orangeburg and Dorchester counties can expect to see additional law enforcement over the next few days as part of a multi-agency Area Coordinated Enforcement (ACE) initiative to reduce collisions and highway fatalities in our state.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol, the State Transport Police, the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office, and the Santee Police Department will be participating in this special operation from Thursday, August 20, through Saturday, August 22 on I-26, I-95, US-178, and US-301 between Orangeburg and Dorchester.

Troopers and officers will focus on enforcing all traffic violations, with a special emphasis on enforcing the Move Over Law in honor of Trooper First Class Dennis Ricks, who was killed in the line of duty last August.

More than 50% of all flood fatalities are vehicle-related. You never know how deep the water is or if the road has been washed away or compromised beneath the water. Don’t risk driving into floodwaters. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!
