Recovery
As athletes we spend so much time training to improve, become stronger and to race faster. However not as much time is spent on recovery.
When we train we are breaking down our muscle fibres which makes them weaker. Then we finish training and our body starts to recover and repair itself. When the body recovers it will repair the muscle fibres to be slightly stronger than they were before training. This is how training adaptations occur. Therefore we want to maximise recovery to ensure we completely recover and benefit from each session. We also want to recover quickly to be able to start the next session.
To enhance recovery you can:
- Complete a cooldown
- Static stretching
- Consume appropriate nutrition and hydration
- Foam rolling

Want to brush up on your swim, bike run skills - try this !!
It's time to sign up for our Tri Training Day that's less than two weeks away. This is THE BEST opportunity to practice all the elements for your return to racing. Don't wait until race day! Coach Raeleigh Harris will be there to remind you of all the things you've forgotten while in lockdown. This is a casual event but there WILL be medals. You choose your distances, everything from a super-sprint to Olympic or less or more or a mix of several distances if you want. In fact, if you just want to ride and run, that's OK too.
Bring all the gear you'd need on race day.

Oh the places we shall go!
I've been wearing
shoes for all of my adventures both on and off the training and racing track for about 6 years now, and I wouldnt have it any other way. After racing St George 70.3 recently we took a day in Zion to soak it all in.. this was just one of the magical views we were gifted after icing the legs hiking the narrows!

What's new with racing?
It's back! That's what!
St George 70.3 was a blast. Competing simply to complete (a first for me but my only real option) meant I enjoyed the views more, thanked more volunteers than ever before, talked to fellow racers on course more than I ever have and soaked in all aspects of the journey with a big smile
.. well most most the time! So even though it was my slowest 70.3 ever, (by a lot) in many ways it was so much more than a time on the clock. I have always said, triathlon racing provides a learning of some kind. This race was no different..and I really appreciated my own personal award ceremony :) Make the most most it people... you never know what is around the bend!

What thoughts are you entertaining?
#
We literally are what we think... our thoughts, and what they manifest live for a long time. In training and in life, are you persistent with only entertaining thoughts that help you get to where you want to go?
