Is my profile/bio really THAT important to my business? The answer is a big fat YES!!!
Without an informative profile, customers won’t know who you are, where you are, what you specialize in, or how to order. Which means you won’t get any orders.

I love this quote so much! We can sit around all day thinking about the things we wish we would do.
OR we can put ourselves out there, take action, and see what we are actually capable of.
When I started my home bakery, I had no idea it would take me where it did. We were struggling college students with a family. I put in the work, figured it out, and now my part-time gig has provided a full-time income for me and my family.

Let’s talk photography and your business. How important are good photos when trying to sell something?
Whether you hire a photographer or learn to take fantastic photos yourself, good photography is key in making sales, especially in the food industry. If your photos don’t look appetizing, people won’t want to eat, let alone buy.
Find yourself a professional photographer if you can afford it - it makes such a big difference! And get yourself in some of those pictures. People love to see the face behind the food.

Let’s talk about your business. Do you have one? Do you want to start one?
Starting a business is a lot of work - business license, social media, website. Should you file as a sole proprietor? Should you form an LLC? What should you name your business? And then, if you have a home bakery like me, we add food handler’s permit and cottage food license. Do you need those?
These are all valid questions, and things that stop a lot of people from starting their businesses.
In Home Bakery Academy, we go over these things. At the end of the day, I love seeing people succeed! I love seeing people follow their passions and their dreams! I love seeing people feel fulfilled ❤️

What is something that is holding you back from following your dreams? Is it fear? Is it feeling like you don’t know enough? Is it wondering how it will all work?
I’ll let you in on a little secret ... most people that start a business feel the exact same way! I would be willing to bet that fear is the number one reason people don’t take action. Fear of failure. Fear of the unknown. Fear of judgement.
But every time we fail, we learn. Every time we try something new, we become better. Every time we do something, despite worrying about what others will think, we grow.
Moral of the story? Don’t let FEAR hold you back! Push through the fear to see what you couldn’t even imagine was possible! Because if you never try, you’ll never know what is waiting around the corner for you ❤️

Seven years ago when I started my home bakery, I was excited, nervous, and scared. I had no idea how to start a business on my own. I didn’t know about the licensing, permits and regulations that go along with a home bakery.
I would have loved a guide, a course, someone to model my business after. But there weren’t a lot of home bakeries around, especially not on Instagram.
So I created a course to help others like me! You don’t have to do this business alone. Family. They are the most important thing to me! And they are why I not only have my business, but why I work from home. So I can be available to my kids when they need me.
Last week, we went exploring in Moab, Utah. It was incredible! And because of my business, the trip wasn’t a financial burden. I love that I get to help contribute financially to my family.
