Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 1st, marks the official start of the 2026–2027 school year! We are so excited to welcome our students back to school and see our hallways filled with energy, learning, and new possibilities across the district.

Future Mariners had a fun-filled day of learning, exploring, and playing at the first Child Development Screening Day of the year! ⚓️

A big thank-you goes to all of the dedicated SFSD staff and the South Milwaukee Health Department for helping make the day a success! 👏

There are two more Child Development Screening Days scheduled this year for resident children ages 2.5–4 (at the time of screening). Families are encouraged to check out the flyer for upcoming dates and details on how to schedule an appointment.

Recently, a team of students took their learning to the depths of Lake Michigan, joining an incredible team of experts for an unforgettable hands-on experience in the Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary. 🌊⚓

With guidance from Dr. Ashley Lemke from UWM, Peter Schubert from Poseidon Robotics, Caitlin Zant from NOAA, and SFHS alumni and current MTU student Emmitt students explored two shipwrecks beneath the surface of Lake Michigan, using science, technology, and curiosity to investigate pieces of our region’s maritime history.

Whether you're picking up a volleyball for the first time or looking to sharpen your skills for the upcoming season, this camp is designed to help every player grow. Participants will enjoy skill-building drills, fun team competitions, and expert coaching that builds confidence both on and off the court.

The Class of 2026 leaves an impressive legacy of academic achievement as graduates were awarded and offered more than $3.8 million in scholarships totaling $3,814,470, recognizing their hard work, leadership, and commitment throughout their high school careers.

The Class of 2026 represents a diverse range of post-graduation plans, showcasing the many pathways to success. Graduates will attend over 18 different four- and two-year colleges and universities across Wisconsin and the Nation.

The Willow Glen Care Closet exists to ensure every student has the essentials they need to feel confident, comfortable, and ready to learn. Thanks to the generosity of our families and community, we've been able to support students in meaningful ways, and we're preparing to restock for the new school year!

Current needs include:
❤️ Individually packaged snacks
🧤 Winter gear (gloves, mittens, hats, scarves)
🩲 New children's underwear (all sizes) for school accidents
🩹 Instant cold/ice packs for bumps and injuries
🧩 Sensory supports and fidgets to help students stay regulated and successful throughout the school day

We also gratefully accept:
• Toothbrushes and toothpaste
• Combs and hairbrushes
• Deodorant, soap, shampoo, and body wash
• Lotion and ChapStick
• Hair ties
• Other individually packaged snacks and essential hygiene items

Items can be dropped off in the bin outside the Willow Glen main office, or you can shop directly from our Amazon Wishlist.

Every contribution, big or small, helps ensure our students have what they need to thrive.
