SCSU Geography Students at AAG Detroit 2025.
In all, five students presented their research (four undergraduates and one MS student) at various poster and paper presentation sessions. Thank you to our generous program donors for funding their travel and fees!

It is confirmed. Geography and GIS has been cut from SCSU with the loss of three of our four positions. I wish I had better news after so much tremendous support from our students, alumni and community partners. Thank you all. As much as this hurts we are proud of our collective 60+ year departmental legacy, however much it is undervalued by our administration.

It is with great sadness that the St. Cloud State University administration has proposed the closure of all Geography and GIS programming at SCSU and the cutting of three of our four faculty. After a short period for feedback, final decisions will be made in the coming weeks.
For those with direct links to our programming in Geography/GIS, we would greatly appreciate you taking a moment to reach out to SCSU and MinnState Admin to help protect your academic heritage and the opportunities that perhaps it opened up for you and for many others. Here are the names and email contact information for those making the final determination:
Acting SCSU President Larry Lee, [email protected]
Provost Abbey Zink, [email protected]
Associate Provost Ajay Panicker, [email protected]
College of Science and Engineering Dean Adel Ali, [email protected]
Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Chancellor Scott Olson, [email protected]

Fabulous SCSU GIS Day Employer Panel yesterday! Lovely to see so many of our alumni doing such great work and sharing their experiences with current students. Today, Maxim Kroll ‘21 presents a key note on the use of drones in precision agriculture at 10-11am in MC 122 (Miller Center Auditorium). Maxim, who is an excellent presenter, works for St. Paul-based Sentera.

A foggy blue and orange sunrise over Lake Superior. I love that blue and orange are complementary colors. They occur often together in nature and it's fun when you can incorporate that into a photo.
