This week, Cathedral students and staff had the blessing of hearing from Patrick Norton, a local man whose life was directly impacted by St. Mother Teresa.

Born on the streets of India, Pat shared how Mother Teresa rescued him as a baby and brought him to an orphanage with the Missionaries of Charity. Years later, he was adopted by a family in Connecticut and came to the United States at age 14.

When asked about Mother Teresa’s greatest impact on his life, Pat’s answer was simple: “She saved my life.”

He reminded us of Mother Teresa’s call to “do little things with great love” and that we each have our own “Calcutta” right here.

A powerful reminder as we celebrate St. Mother Teresa as Cathedral’s patron saint this year. 💙

Meet Tanya Vossberg, our Assistant Principal! We’re excited to welcome Tanya to the Cathedral community! With a heart for serving others and a passion for getting to know students, staff, and families, she brings a strong sense of purpose to her role. 💙 💛

Fun facts: you’ll usually find her in the hallways, where she loves being around students and being part of the energy. She’s happiest outdoors with her family, especially when there’s a hiking trail, a waterfall, and a little adventure involved. She also believes coffee is pretty much a requirement, especially on school mornings! ☕

🌏 Learning Beyond the Classroom!

This past summer, Cathedral students Carter and Madani had the incredible opportunity to travel to China through a scholarship-supported China program!

Their journey took them through Beijing, Changchun, Hangzhou, Shanghai, and Taipei, where they explored historic and cultural sites, visited local schools, learned about the Chinese education system, and participated in hands-on experiences like tea picking. They even stayed with a local Chinese family for three days, experiencing everyday life in a more personal way.

From trying local foods and snacks to putting their Chinese language skills into practice, Carter and Madani experienced firsthand what they’ve been learning in the classroom. 🇨🇳📚

Meet Richard McMorrow!
We’re excited to welcome Richard back to Cathedral as our new Principal! With 37 years in education he brings a wealth of experience and a strong connection to our school community. This isn’t his first time at Cathedral! 2026 marks his third time joining our team, after previously being here in 2002 and 2017.
Fun facts: he’s been on a dozen African wildlife safaris, chooses music over TV every time, and is a proud (and sometimes suffering) Vikings fan. He’s also a dad to three adult children and a proud grandpa to four grandchildren.

Last week, our Cathedral Middle School students discovered which House they’ll call their own throughout middle school! 🎉
Our eight Houses are built around qualities we hope to nurture in every Cathedral student:

💜 Creativity
Each House has its own patron saint and color, creating a unique team to cheer for!
Our House System is about more than friendly competition. Houses bring together students who might not otherwise connect, creating opportunities to build friendships, foster belonging, serve others, and grow together. 🤝
Throughout the year, Houses will gather for activities, service projects, and monthly convocations, earning points for participation, service, teamwork, and positive actions. 🏆
And at the end of the year, one House will take home the House Cup Trophy! 🏆🎉

🎉 Back to School Open House & Picnic at Cathedral! 🎉
We welcomed new and returning families for a fun-filled Open House as students explored lockers, reviewed class schedules, met teachers, learned about Chromebooks, and enjoyed a picnic dinner with our Cathedral community. 💙💛

Our faculty and staff loved seeing so many familiar and new faces.
We can’t wait to get this school year started! Go Crusaders! 🏫📚🎉
