Born on this day in 1819, Clara Schumann was one of the nineteenth century’s greatest pianists and a gifted composer whose music continues to reveal a deeply personal and poetic voice.

Beyond her remarkable career on the concert stage, she championed the works of Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms and many of her contemporaries, helping shape the musical culture of her time.

Today we celebrate Clara Schumann: an extraordinary artist, a pioneering woman and an enduring figure in music history.

Summer is an incredible time to make music! Without the constraints of school-year activities, creativity, time to make music and share with others can be a beautiful thing. Our musical exploration this summer will be focused on duet and ensemble playing, as well as keeping it “real cool” with some Jazz, Rags, and Blues!
