High quality, hands-on, affordable electrical and computer programs prepare skilled and innovative e The Electrical & Computer Engineering programs at St.
Cloud State University prepares students to become skilled and innovative engineers. With focus on instilling lifelong learning skills, our diverse faculty instruct on all major specialty areas of electrical and computer engineering and offers a global approach to systems and technology. Electrical Engineering:
We're the people who design and develop circuits, motion and robot controls, oscillosco
pes, ultrasound and MRI equipment, CT scanners, TVs, stereos, telephones and multimedia systems, MP3s, DVDs, image and voice recognition equipment and power generators. Our electrical engineering program emphasizes computer hardware and software development, circuits, analog and digital electronics, microprocessor systems, digital and wireless communications, solid state devices, electromagnetics, integrated circuit design, control systems and instrumentation. Computer Engineering:
Computer engineers design faster and more efficient computing systems, useful and effective computer interfaces and computer-based instruments. Our program emphasizes computer digital circuits and systems, embedded microprocessor systems, computer architecture, computer networking, data structure, operating systems, software engineering, computer aided design, and computer hardware and software design and development. Graduate:
We offer a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, specializing in embedded systems. Students in this degree program have the option of pursing a thesis, starred paper, or an internship option.

For humans, it's actually impossible to get somewhere in a jiffy. Physicists use jiffies to measure the speed at which light travels in one femtometer, which is one quadrillionth of a meter. This means that one second equals approximately three hundred thousand billion billion jiffies. Electrical engineers also use jiffies to measure the duration of an alternating current power cycle—which is roughly 1/60 or 1/50 of a second for most power systems.

Could you imagine using a device carved from wood to navigate your computer? In the 1960s, this was a reality—Douglas Engelbart and his team at SRI International developed the first computer mouse, constructed of a wooden case with two wheels and a button on top. This seemingly simple invention went on to be one of the foundations of the modern computing experience.
