SCSU Nursing Students in the Child and Family Nursing Course are grateful for the opportunity to learn from Stearns County Human Services at SCSU on April 14, 2026. This mandated reporter training and overview of county resources gave us meaningful insight into recognizing and responding to child and family needs in our community.
This experience strengthened our ability to identify early signs of abuse and neglect, understand our legal and ethical responsibilities, and respond with confidence. It also highlighted the importance of connecting families for vital services; like mental health support, food and housing assistance, and child protection programs so we can provide truly holistic, family-centered care. Learning how to collaborate with community agencies prepares us to advocate more effectively, intervene sooner, and ultimately improve safety and long-term outcomes for the children and families.
As future nurses, these skills are essential to building trust, supporting vulnerable populations, and making a real impact in Stearns County. Thank you for investing in our education and empowering us to better serve our community!
We love our program!!! 🩺
