Free, confidential mental health care is now available to eligible Ohio University Eastern students through our new partnership with BetterMynd.

Here's what students have access to:

24/7 crisis support line. Call anytime, day or night, weekends and holidays included, to reach a licensed counselor for immediate support.

Scheduled counseling, six visits per year. Choose your day, time and provider. Sessions are 50 minutes by live video with licensed counselors, and you can take them anywhere you feel comfortable.

Wellbeing workshops. One-hour live group sessions led by licensed counselors, with more than 20 offered each month and no limit on how many you attend.

Meet Becklee Oliver!

Becklee is from Barnesville, Ohio, and is beginning her OHIO journey at OHIO Eastern, where she is majoring in early childhood and elementary education.

For Becklee, staying close to home means she can pursue her degree while continuing to work and help care for her family.

Becklee arrives at OHIO Eastern with plenty to be proud of. She graduated with a 3.7 GPA, earned three scholarships, participated in five clubs and two sports, worked two jobs and was recognized at the Ohio Valley Mall Art Show.

Now, she is looking forward to “meeting new friends” while staying connected with classmates from Barnesville who are also attending OHIO Eastern.

Becklee’s dream is to become a kindergarten teacher with a specialization in special education and, one day, potentially own her own business.

Meet Maggie Milliken!

Maggie is from Bethesda, Ohio, and is beginning her OHIO journey at OHIO Eastern, where she is majoring in early childhood and elementary education.

Maggie chose OHIO Eastern because “it has everything I need for my degree” while allowing her to stay close to her hometown.

One of Maggie’s proudest accomplishments was joining her high school cross-country team as a senior, an experience she says made her stronger both physically and mentally. After a summer spent working, enjoying time with family and friends, and vacationing in North Myrtle Beach, she is ready for this next chapter.

This fall, Maggie is especially excited to take classes that bring her closer to her goal. “My dream job is to be an elementary school teacher. It is what I’ve always dreamed of doing.”

OHIO Eastern Education sophomores and juniors came together for Next Steps to Teaching, an informational session focused on preparing students for their upcoming field placements.

Faculty shared guidance on classroom expectations and field experiences, while Career Development Coordinator Dan Christian was on hand to share information about the career services and resources available to students.

Meet Makynze Littleton!

Makynze is from Shadyside, Ohio, and is beginning her OHIO journey at OHIO Eastern, where she is pursuing an associate degree with an arts and humanities emphasis.

For Makynze, starting college is an accomplishment in itself. “I’m glad I’m able to go in the first place to get a better education.” She chose OHIO Eastern after hearing many good things about the campus and with encouragement from her mom.

Makynze hopes to turn her passion for drawing and designing into a career as a fashion designer.

And if her spotlight photo is any indication, it may come as no surprise that fall holds a special place in Makynze’s heart. From cooler weather and football to her favorite holiday, Halloween, she says the season is “nostalgic and comforting” and holds some of her best memories.

Keynote Speaker Spotlight: Dr. Richard Greenlee

The OHIO Eastern community is invited to join our colleagues at Ohio University Zanesville for the Appalachian Stories of Resilience & Recovery Summit on Thursday, Sept. 3.

The summit will feature Dr. Richard Greenlee, dean emeritus of Ohio University Eastern, presenting the keynote, “Pickin' Walnuts: A Story of Hardship, Hope & Healing.”

The free event will bring together voices from across Appalachian Ohio for a day centered on stories of strength, perseverance, recovery and hope, including a panel featuring individuals with lived experience.

🎉 Celebrating Wendy Rogers!

Please join us in congratulating Wendy Rogers on her retirement after more than 30 years of dedicated service to Ohio University!

Throughout her career at OHIO, Wendy served in many roles, but one thing remained constant: her commitment to helping students succeed. From supporting students through their transition to college and academic journey to providing guidance and resources along the way, Wendy has made a difference in the lives of countless Bobcats.

While we were fortunate to have Wendy as part of the OHIO Eastern team for only a short time, she quickly made a lasting mark on our campus and leaves an incredible legacy of service across the entire OHIO community.

Thank you, Wendy, for your many years of dedication to our students and Ohio University. We wish you all the best in retirement! 💚
