Yesterday I had the chance to be part of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri Round Up.

I got to share some of the 7 Golden Rules of Child Safety, run a short mini class, meet some great girls and leaders, and even connect with another local martial arts school owner who showed real respect and professionalism.

Days like this are about planting seeds. Some of those seeds will grow. I'm confident the lessons taught will impact many.

I’m grateful for every conversation and every girl who showed up ready to learn.

Yesterday at the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri Round Up I had the absolute pleasure of meeting the owner of Inertia Martial Arts & Fitness. From the moment I introduced myself to the handshake at the end of a long day, Mr. Hoeber showed the values of a true black belt: respect, courtesy, and a genuine sense of caring for others.

As I have been saying since opening this location in St. Clair this past March, true martial artists support one another. A settled, confident instructor will always encourage other schools because we share the same goal: helping kids and adults live healthier, happier, more confident, safer, and more aware lives through real martial arts.

This picture is from when we were talking about board breaking and the many shared experiences of running a school. It was a good conversation.

A Kenpo School in an SUV!
Tomorrow is FINALLY almost here! I have worked on this for months and it is crazy it's finally happening. That is a Kenpo school in an SUV! Tomorrow, I drive up to Troy to Camp Tuckaho for the annual Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri Round Up! There are nearly 500 girls pre registered and over 250 adults representing troops in 17 counties! I'm giving my verbal seminar, The 7 Golden Rules of Child Safety and Anti Trafficking Awareness and teaching two mini 20 minute classes.

This is both the biggest and most unusual opportunity in my 27 years of teaching!

Special thanks to Street Edge SuperMom Andrea for getting this all started and to Jennifer and her husband for helping spread the word about the life changing power of American Street Edge Self-Defense Systems to the Girl Scouts!

The mission is going far beyond Franklin County tomorrow!

Recently I brought back a very old school Kenpo drill called Tiger in the Cage with the advanced kids on Thursdays. Today, I introduced a new element to it with an extra challenge.

It’s fun, and it also teaches some of the most important lessons they will carry long after they leave the carpet.

They learn to process information and act on it quickly under real stress. They sharpen their spatial and environmental awareness.

They practice staying focused on community and respect even when things get chaotic.

🔥And they learn something most kids never get taught: how to have fun and still stay serious and composed at the same time. Introducing the pool noodles was that challenge. Have fun, yet stay focused and serious on the drill and they nailed it.

That is a skill that changes how they move through life.
