St. Charles Elementary School has launched a new reading initiative! Look for the elementary float in the St. Charles Homecoming Parade on Friday, September 25, 2026!

The elementary school has decided to move beyond just "March is Reading Month" and make it a yearlong mission to have fun while reading called "Take Me to Your Readers."

The elementary school reading committee recently built an 8 ft rocket in the elementary school hallway, and Kevin landed outside our library. The new initiative, along with "Kevin," our school's alien, was introduced to elementary students, staff, and parents, letting them know students will complete a mission every month to power Kevin's rocket ship and help him return to outer space.

Mrs. Miller, the elementary school principal, has arranged a "Reading Under the Lights " event on the football field to kick off the reading fun. Every student who completes all the missions will be invited to a huge celebration in March for their accomplishments. There will be prizes and little incentives throughout the year, as well, to keep the students engaged.

St. Charles Elementary wanted to share this information with the community so that if you see an alien invasion during the Homecoming Parade, you are well informed.

St. Charles Community Schools would like to give a shout-out to a remarkable student from the stands at the recent STC Youth Football game! Despite the rain, 6th-grade student Sutton (wearing the red sleeves in the picture below) showed incredible school spirit.

Sutton attended the game with her family and took the initiative to recruit several younger students to cheer for the 5th- and 6th-grade Bulldog football team, since there were no cheerleaders on the field at the time due to the weather conditons.

Thank you, Sutton, for your dedication to the sport and for mentoring our future Bulldog cheerleaders! You truly rock!
