SJEA Bargaining June 10th, 2026 06/10/2026

Thank you SJEA for having their YouTube channel. For those that couldn't attend this meeting. The first part is/was the presentation about proposed 2027 Insurance increases. It will still need to be ratified/voted on by all employees. More to come on that.

This is the cycle they don’t want you to notice.

Underfund public schools.
Blame them for the challenges that follow.
Redirect taxpayer dollars to private operators with fewer rules & less transparency.
Repeat.

This isn’t about helping students. It’s about shifting public money into private hands, without the responsibility that comes with serving every child.

Public funds belong in public schools—where students, not profits, come first.

While lawmakers delay the state budget, Florida’s public schools don’t get to hit pause.

Districts across the state are already cutting positions and programs just to stay afloat while they wait. And when funding falls short, students pay the price — through fewer opportunities, larger class sizes, and reduced support: https://yhoo.it/42oKvHo

Every day the Legislature stalls is another day public school students are shortchanged.

Protect Public Service Workers’ Rights in Florida 02/28/2026

Dear union members and allies,

🚨 On Monday, March 2 at 12:00 PM lawmakers in Tallahassee will hear SB 1296 in committee. This is a major anti-union bill, and we must show up strong 💪 to fight back.

⚠️ What SB 1296 does:
It would make it harder for public employees to form and keep unions by requiring a majority of all workers, not just those who vote, to approve unionization. A Florida Senate staff analysis warns the bill could violate collective bargaining rights protected by the Florida Constitution, as well as equal protection and free speech rights under the U.S. Constitution.

❌ This bill is being pushed by anti-union special interests and is a direct attack on workers’ rights. We cannot let it pass without a fight.

📅 Monday, March 2 Schedule

11:15 AM – Press Conference
📍 In front of City Hall (directly across from FEA)
11:45 AM – March to Committee
We will walk together from the press conference to the committee room
12:00 PM – Fiscal Policy Committee Hearing
📍 Room 412K

In solidarity,

Protect Public Service Workers’ Rights in Florida Florida lawmakers are advancing legislation that would rig workplace elections and silence public service workers. Record a short video to speak out and show them we’re paying attention.

You should have your voice & opinion heard regarding this. https://mobilize.us/s/CoxvOd There are a lot of "let's do this" actions Tallahassee is attempting to pass that could (will) affect students, teachers, support staff, and tax payers. Be informed.

Co-location doesn’t expand choice—it takes it away.

Schools targeted for co-location are often magnet schools that families have chosen for STEM, arts, career pathways, and specialized programs. When outside operators move in, those opportunities shrink.

What really happens:
➡️ Magnet seats disappear
➡️ Programs get cut or pushed aside
➡️ Future students lose access
➡️ District-wide choice gets smaller, not bigger

And families already in the building? They’re rarely given a real say.

Even though man of Support Staff do not "feel like" Educators, we are. We educate about driving etiquette, food prep/serving, what it means to be a custodian, a para, a translator, a nurse, a maintenance worker. Thank all the school employees. SUPPORT all staff!

It’s never too late to say THANK YOU to the educators who make a difference in your life or your child’s. 💙

Take a moment to write a personal note to an educator or education staff professional and let them know how much you appreciate their hard work and dedication. A few kind words can brighten their day and remind them that their impact truly matters.
