💥 ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT 💥- Nate Tepp '08
After graduating from Flagler College in 2008, Nate Tepp returned to his hometown of Seattle, where he spent a year coaching men’s college basketball and working for the Seattle Storm before beginning a career in financial services. He entered the industry in 2009 and became a financial advisor in 2015.
In 2020, Nate joined EQ Wealth Management and helped the firm grow from a $200 million practice to $1 billion in May 2026. Today, he manages approximately 100 client households and more than $120 million in assets for clients across the country.
During a family vacation to St. Augustine with his wife, Kate, and their five-year-old son, Julius, Nate reconnected with Flagler by speaking to the Investment Club. After learning about the organization through a Flagler newsletter, he reached out to offer his expertise as a guest speaker.
At the students’ request, Nate presented on the stock market and economy, drawing on research from firms including Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, and Ned Davis Research. The presentation sparked thoughtful discussion and insightful questions, and Nate was especially honored to have his mentor, Yvan Kelly, attend.
The experience reinforced Nate’s passion for mentoring the next generation of professionals. Several students connected with him on LinkedIn afterward, creating opportunities for continued conversation and career guidance.
Nate lives in Seattle with Kate, Julius, and their dog, Puddle, and remains proud to stay connected to the Flagler community and share his professional experiences with current students.

💥 ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT 💥- Lauren Piskothy '20
"On March 31, I officially crowdfunded enough money to make my first professional short film, a meta romantic comedy called Men I’m Not Married To. The film follows a rom-com-obsessed hopeless romantic whose grandma returns as a ghost on Valentine’s Day to help her finally ask out her crush.
Ever since I saw You’ve Got Mail, I knew romantic comedies were what I wanted to make. For years, I believed I had to wait for an agent or producer to choose me. Instead, life took me to Edinburgh, Scotland, where I built a career in film and television as a Development Assistant. Although I gained valuable experience, I realized I was still waiting for permission to tell the stories I wanted to tell.
So I stopped waiting.
After my screenplay for Men I’m Not Married To was shortlisted for Best Short Film Screenplay at the Women X Film Festival, I decided to produce it myself. I met director Kate Hammer, partnered with an Edinburgh-based production company, launched a Kickstarter campaign, and successfully raised the funds to bring the film to life.
As an independent producer, I wore many hats—organizing casting, coordinating schedules, managing budgets, sourcing props and costumes, promoting the project on social media, and transforming my apartment into our film set.
Watching a talented cast and crew bring a story that once existed only on the page to life was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. Now we're in post-production, and I'm more certain than ever that this is what I'm meant to do. I can't wait to keep telling stories and continue creating my own opportunities."
