ADHD Dude
Dr. Ortiz is correct.
To the mothers and grandmothers reading this, I say this with genuine respect and admiration for you: being told your child has a "nervous system disorder" feels true because it names something real you watch happen at home every day. It often comes from people who make you feel seen. That is exactly why it spreads.
Here is what holds you back. Feeling understood is not the same as being told the truth. "Nervous system disorder" has no diagnostic criteria or evidence to back it, which means it can never tell you what to do next.
What helps your child is not another label. It is an effective, evidence-based approach to behavior. When you have that, you stop looking for the right label and start watching the changes at home: better emotional regulation, greater cooperation, and, most importantly, a child who starts to recognize how capable they are.
ADHD Dude provides evidence-informed Parent Behavior Training used by 20,000 families in over 50 countries over the past 5 years. It's designed to do two things: make life at home easier and more peaceful, and help your child recognize how capable they are.

Is your child ready to power their transition into 1st or 2nd grade without losing the magic of summer? At Grassroots Education, we believe that the most "serious" learning happens through play.
Summer Roots is a premium, 4-day-a-week academic intensive designed by Amy Wollwerth. We’ve replaced worksheets with Discovery Missions, using a play-based approach to master the 1st and 2nd-grade math and literacy standards.
📍 The Grassroots Difference: 1:5 Ratio
We are not a typical summer camp or a traditional classroom. To ensure intentional, high-quality instruction, each session is strictly limited to only 5 hand-picked students. This intimate circle allows Amy to solidify the leap into primary-grade mastery by facilitating deep, child-led play that is secretly packed with academic rigor.
🧩 Play-Based Academic Pillars:
The Code-Breaker Missions (Literacy): No rote memorization here. Students become "Word Detectives," using scavenger hunts and magnetic "mapping" tiles to decode vowel teams and multisyllabic words. We use Sound-to-Letter play to turn spelling into a puzzle to be solved.
The Math Construction Zone: We explore Place Value and Logic through building. Whether we are "measuring the perimeter" of a cardboard city or using Rekenreks to win "Mental Math Races," students develop a gut-level sense of how numbers work through physical manipulation.
Story Workshop & Tinkering: Students use loose parts (clay, blocks, gems, and wire) to "build" their ideas. This sensory play serves as the blueprint for their writing, allowing them to compose complex stories and "Field Notes" without the pressure of a blank page.
