The Veritas Spring Formal was truly a night to remember as our Upper School students gathered in their formal wear for an evening of dinner and dancing overlooking the ocean at the Embassy Suites ballroom. This year, the addition of a magician and sketch artists made the evening even more memorable, they were a huge hit among students and added a unique and fun element to the night!

Our third graders performed for residents at Lilac at Bayview, sharing hymns, recorder pieces, and a poem by Robert Louis Stevenson. Residents sang along, enjoyed handmade cards, and were truly blessed.
For many students, it was a new experience that helped them overcome hesitation and bring joy to others. Even more meaningful, our Lincolnville campus was once Bayview’s original residence, making this a beautiful full-circle moment.

Fifth grade transformed into a bustling marketplace during their recent Market Day! Each student became an entrepreneur, creating unique products to “sell” to classmates. The classroom was full of innovation and excitement. This experience was a fun and engaging way for students to practice creativity, collaboration, and real-world business skills.

Our 6th grade students stepped into the role of Roman soldiers by designing and crafting their own scuta shields, inspired by traditional Roman designs. They then brought history to life by working together to form the famous “Turtle Formation,” using their shields to defend against a (friendly!) barrage of “arrows.” This activity gave students a deeper appreciation for the teamwork, strategy, and discipline of Roman warriors.

Our freshmen returned from NY with stories of a nighttime boat tour, visiting Ellis Island and climbing the Statue of Liberty, seeing Hadestown on Broadway, walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, visiting the National September 11 Memorial and Museum followed by St. Patrick’s Cathedral, exploring Times Square, and even an “epic” kickball game in Central Park after ice skating there.
What stood out most was learning that before each stop, students were given questions to reflect on and respond to. Reading their thoughtful insights, written while surrounded by the noise, excitement, and chaos of such a big city, was moving.

Modeling what it looks like to live in authentic Christian community is a vital part of a Veritas education. During their road trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains, our 11th and 12th grade students toured colleges and explored the caverns of Ruby Falls, but the most meaningful moments happened in the everyday rhythms of life together. As they prepared and shared meals, studied the Word by diving into 1 John each day, played games, and worked side by side, they experienced firsthand the joy, responsibility, and blessing of true Christian fellowship.

Our 7th grade students returned with excitement and countless stories from their trip to Washington D.C., where they explored historic and cultural landmarks while deepening their understanding of American history and its connection to Christian values. Highlights included playing in the snow, going to the top of the Washington Monument, visiting the Museum of the Bible, ice skating, touring the National Air and Space Museum, the U.S. Capitol, a White House tour, and viewing our nation’s foundational documents at the National Archives. Students also enjoyed a nighttime trolley tour of the monuments. A particularly meaningful moment was a private visit to the Church of the Presidents, where students had the opportunity to sing the Doxology, and sit in pews once occupied by U.S. presidents. Unforgettable!

Last weekend we hosted our first-ever student event on our new Main Campus! Rhetoric students gathered around a bonfire to enjoy s’mores and hot chocolate, toured the administrative building and surrounding property, and joined together in prayer over the future of the campus. They also signed a wall inside the building, leaving a lasting mark on this historic moment in the life of our school. As students imagined all that God will bring to fruition in this space, the evening became a beautiful beginning, the first of many memories to be made on our main campus.
