Oldest Settlement of the United States St. Augustine is known as the US's oldest city, being settled by the Spanish in 1565. Much of St. Augustine Lighthouse.
Augustine is a coastal town which has escaped the development which much of Florida has experienced. The Castillo de San Marcos, built in 1695 is a popular attraction for visitors. Augustine's charm is seen in Flagler College, St. George Street, and the striped St. For beachgoers, Anastasia State Park with its powdery white sand is a favorite destination.
