Hi my name is Lisette Villadoniga! I have been signing since 1997 and majored in Deaf and Elementary Education. I received a degree at Flagler College and taught at Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. I also taught for St. Johns County then decided to become an interpreter for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. After my daughter was born I started signing to her right away. At 3 months old she started to communicate with me. When she became fussy I would sign different things to her including, “milk and “potty.” When I signed the right one she would reward me with a big smile. Signing has helped me teach my daughter Spanish and learn to read by 15 months old. I want to help you do the same thing! I believe we don’t give babies and children the credit they deserve and are capable of so much more than we think. Let me help you reduce your frustrations by providing your family with a language in which you can communicate with your child sooner than he or she may be able to articulate or produce the words. This will provide him or her with a foundational language to build upon. Sign language provided me with a bridge to teach my daughter Spanish. When my daughter saw that mommy says, “water” and daddy says, “agua” but the sign is the same thing then she was able to comprehend she is speaking more than one language. She was already trilingual at 2 years old! I am available to teach Baby Signing Time Curriculum with children and their families, teachers and staff, schools and anyone else that may be interested in learning sign language. I would like to create a comfortable environment for Hearing or Deaf kids and parents, Deaf Parents with Deaf kids, Deaf parents with hearing kids.
