Pretty disturbing...

Redfish Pass north of Captiva Island on July 13, 2013 during the height of last summer's discharges from Lake Okeechobee. A wet winter and a prediction of more wet weather to come has the Army Corps contemplating early releases from the Lake. The Caloosahatchee River drains hundreds of thousands of acres of citrus farms west of the Lake and millions of acres of cattle and dairy farms north of it. This is the end result of all the plumbing we've put in place which makes that productivity possible - lost wetlands and severely damaged estuaries. Photo by Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation.

Thank you OCEARCH for this amazing opportunity!

Been stuck at the dock since Tuesday, March 5th at 3pm. The wind and swell have been up so we have not been able to work and there does not appear to be a window before the planned end of Expedition Jacksonville.
We have been making the most of it by visiting schools and having classes come down to the OCEARCH.
We may not be working on the ocean, but we can work for the ocean while we are on weather hold.
