The parable of the lost sheep in Matthew 18:12-14 reveals the depth of God's love and His heart for each one of His children. In this passage, Jesus teaches that the Father does not want anyone to be lost. Through the image of a shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine sheep to search for the one that has wandered away, Jesus reminds us that every person has great value and that God's care extends to each individual.
The parable of the lost sheep in Matthew reminds us that God's love is personal, intentional, and unwavering. He is not willing for any of His children to be lost, and He continues to seek, guide, and restore those who have wandered. We are called to reflect the heart of the Shepherd by noticing those who feel unseen, extending grace to those who are struggling, and helping others find their way back to God's love.

One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is helping them understand that their worth does not come from achievements, appearance, popularity, or what others think of them. Their value comes from knowing they are created, loved, and cared for by God. Children who understand their identity in God develop a stronger sense of confidence, purpose, and security. They learn that even when they make mistakes, face challenges, or feel different from others, they are never forgotten. As parents and caregivers, we have the opportunity to remind them every day that they are precious in God's eyes.
Teaching children that they matter to God is not a one-time conversation. It is built through daily reminders, loving actions, prayers, and moments when we help them see themselves the way God sees them. When a child knows they are loved by God, they begin to understand that their worth is not determined by the world around them. They can walk with confidence, knowing they are valued, chosen, and deeply loved by their Creator.

In the parable of the lost sheep (Luke 15:3-7), Jesus reminds us that every person is precious to God. The shepherd did not ignore the one sheep that wandered away. He searched for it because it mattered. This activity helps children understand that God knows, loves, and cares for each one of us.
The lost sheep teaches us that no one is invisible to God. He knows us by name, loves us deeply, and never gives up searching for us. Just as the shepherd cared for the one sheep, we are called to share God's love by reaching out, including others, and reminding them that they are valued and loved.
