Here's an update from one of our most recent 2025 scholarship recipients, Benjamin Mann who is wrapping up completed his freshman year at Santa Fe College:

“I am currently in my second semester at Santa Fe College, though I originally planned to attend Stetson University. I was given the amazing opportunity to play trumpet as part of the UF Gator Marching Band while also attending Santa Fe College. I plan to complete my AA degree in music and then transfer to the University of Florida to finish my Bachelor’s degree: double majoring in Music Education and Linguistics. I am continuing to serve others through my involvement in the music program at Santa Fe College with Concert Band and Singers, in addition to serving as a student engagement leadership ambassador and Vice President of the Sante Fe Student Engagement Activity ambassadors team. I am also very active in church serving Christ in choir, bells and college ministry, as well as leading worship and music on the praise team for the UF Gator’s trumpet Bible study. I volunteer locally with the high school band and elementary school, judge for speech and debate competitions, and will be on staff this summer at the Youth Leadership Forum serving students with disabilities. I am so incredibly thankful for all the wonderful blessings and opportunities that the Lord has given to me and especially for the Redfearn family’s support of me and our community.”

Here's an update from our 2024 scholarship recipient, Ella Hutchins who is wrapping up her sophomore year at the University of Florida:

"This past year has continued to shape my college experience through growth, meaningful connections, and hands-on opportunities. As a member of Pi Beta Phi, living in the sorority house has allowed me to strengthen my relationships and become more involved within my chapter. It has also given me the opportunity to meet my little, who has become such an important part of my life and someone I love spending time with.

I am continuing my studies as a Family, Youth and Community Sciences major, and I feel confident that this path aligns with my passions and future goals. I have stayed involved with Alachua County Schools afterschool programs, where I enjoy working with children and making a positive impact in their lives. Over the past summer and throughout this year, I have also worked as a camp counselor at YMCA Camp Immokalee, where I have met so many different people and served as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and rope course instructor, all of which has allowed me to serve my community.

I am incredibly grateful to the Redfearn Family for their continued support and I look forward to continuing to grow in the coming year.”

Here's an update from our 2022 scholarship recipient, Caleb Moncrief who is celebrating his graduation this weekend from the University of Florida, and getting ready for his next career step, preparing for medical school:

“The past year has been a lot of fun, combined with a lot of planning for what’s next. I am now in my final semester at the University of Florida, where I am interning as a weightlifting coach at KHHS, and will be graduating in May with a bachelor’s degree in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology. After graduation, I will be continuing to work as an EMT with Alachua County Fire and Rescue while I go through the process of applying to medical school. I’m excited for this next step in my life and the chance to further my skills in patient care and emergency medicine. Looking back on my time at UF, I’m incredibly grateful for everything I’ve been able to be a part of. Getting to cheer on the Gators at the national championship game last year is something I’ll never forget. Being involved in organizations like UF Cheer, Honors Luminaries, PhiDE, and working as a research assistant has taught me so much and given me an incredible college
experience. As always, a huge thank you to the Redfearn family for all of your support throughout my college career."

Here's an update from our 2023 scholarship recipient, Kori Jennings who taking her next steps towards her career goals:

“After finishing my sophomore year at Cape Fear in Wilmington, North Carolina, where I played volleyball and earned my AA, I decided to return home and continue my junior year at Santa Fe College. I am very grateful for the opportunities the Eric L. Redfearn Scholarship has provided, including allowing me to play the sport I love out of state. Although that chapter of my life has come to a close, I plan to apply to the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program in May of this year, with the goal of being accepted. After completing the program, I intend to specialize in OB/GYN sonography. Currently, I am working while also babysitting my niece and nephew alongside my schoolwork. I truly enjoy caring for others, and although balancing these responsibilities with my classes can be challenging, I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.”
