What better way to learn about our judicial system than to experience it firsthand? Members of STA’s Rho Kappa Club had the opportunity to visit the Ascension Parish Courthouse, meet professionals who serve our community, and see our judicial system in action!

One of the highlights was meeting and speaking with Judge Erin Lanoux before observing an actual court proceeding in her courtroom!

A special thank you to Judge Erin Lanoux, Judicial Administrator Candace Washington, Staff Sergeant Steven Coriell, and Corporal Butler for welcoming our students, sharing their knowledge and experiences, and making this such a valuable learning opportunity!

We are so grateful for opportunities that bring learning beyond the classroom and allow students to explore potential career paths!

Gators, It's time to get ready for the ACT! St. Amant High School is hosting an ACT Bootcamp on Tuesday, Oct. 27 - the day before our school-day test. The ACT Bootcamp will be held during the early dismissal time from 12:45-2:30pm, so it is accessible for students who normally can't make it to after school ACT tutoring because of practice and/or work. Make plans to attend, and make sure you have your own ride home.

This week's LEADERSHIP TORCH recipients are Joleigh Hartman and Mandie Patrick. Both of these ladies have done a fabulous job of leading our students and faculty in school spirit over the past few weeks. Between EA week festivities to homecoming court preparation and presentations, none of this would have been possible without their dedication to our students and community. Our students are lucky to have these teachers who pave the way for some of the most memorable moments of high school.

Science in Action at St. Amant High School! Our students had a blast exploring science through a fun, hands-on experiment recently. They practiced predicting, observing, and identifying cause-and-effect relationships as they discovered how soap interacts with fat molecules in milk to create a colorful tie-dye effect.

Congratulations to Jourden Hickerson!

ST. AMANT'S JOURDEN HICKERSON HAS BEEN NAMED THE ADVOCATE BATON ROUGE AREA PREPS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Jourden Hickerson, of St. Amant, has been named The Advocate Baton Rouge Area Preps Athlete of the Week, following a fan vote. The Gators senior running back ran for 168 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-14 win over Walker on Thursday night.

STA’s Rho Kappa members recently collected 96 books to donate to Books for Boots, a nonprofit organization founded by Melissa Singletary that provides books and other items to active-duty military members, veterans, and military families at no cost. Since 2023, this incredible organization has provided over 21,000 items to those who serve our country!

A special shoutout to STA senior and Rho Kappa Service Chair Caroline Richardson, who came up with the idea for this service project!

STA teachers, librarians and administrators are celebrating Banned Books Week by showcasing the challenged and banned books that shaped their lives. From literary classics to modern favorites, these stories teach us about history, identity, and resilience. We believe our students deserve the freedom to read, learn, and grow from the literature they choose for themselves. So join us in the pages of a great book! This week's LEADERSHIP TORCH recipient is Math teacher Alyssa Folk. Ms. Folk sets the tone for a great start to the school day! She brings positive energy to campus every morning, makes sure students are greeted with a smile and welcomed into school on a high note. Her enthusiasm helps create a positive atmosphere while ensuring students are prepared. She even made up a catchy song!!
